Well, when you don't scale them they show how those models really look when rendered closer. I wonder how long does this ingame photomode render that picture. You do know that in-game you have to render one picture in 0.01 seconds... oh sorry on consoles its more like one picture in 0.03 seconds. When you give 1 sec for rendering for example you get superb results already. Give it one day and you can get graphics like this(Actually you would run out of mem on consoles, but anyway.)
(Thats not real, btw.) |
There are pictures of Sam closer to the camera at normal resolution and he looks WAY better.
The Forza 3 photomode is what it sounds like. You pause the game, press photomode or w/e and you can fly around the area as a camera taking pictures and changing various effects (motion blur, viewing angel, dof, shutter speed, sephia, you name it)
When you take the picture it renders with with the post processing effects chosen almost instantly. These "bullshots" are exactly the same resolution (720p), ingame car model, texture resolution, game lighting etc. The only difference is higher quality post processing. 8/16X AA, Depth of Field, Motion blur etc etc.
These aren't PC still renders like many developers use. (retracted) was posting 2560P (retracted) PSP pictures on the net not long ago.

Resized to fit screen^
Now that is a bullshot.. If anything this is (retracted) showroom model renders.
