Rare was tired of all the crap that nitendo was pulling.(like cancelling dinosaur planet)

Wrong. Nintendo was tired of Rare. Of their lack of cimmitment, not keeping deadlines and lack of talent.

Therefore, they decidedto sell... IP's, names, because the main team wasn't there anymore...

Bolded part tipped me off to the sarcasm. The core team left right before the purchase.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Wow! lmao!

that is funny!

1. Nitendo only owned 49% of Rare

2. Rare wanted to make a awesome game called dinosaur planet. Nitendo made them make Star Fox Adventure.

3. since Nitendo only 49% of Rare they never owned any of the ip.

4.Before Nitendo could renew their contract with Rare. The Stamper Brothers already had decided to sell their 51% to microsoft

The Rare I remember was awesome on the NES. Didn't they do Battletoads? I just remember them as the company that got the most out of the NES. They had jammin' music, and cool graphics that would even hold up today (if you don't mind some pixelation).

Didnt they used to make good games?

They still do, shame on you.

Well on 360 this is what they have released, it is certainly not bad, but not special:

Perfect Dark Zero 82%
Kameo: Elements of Power 81%
Viva Pinata 86%
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise 82%
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts 81%

wow I did not know that their games scored so well.

Rare is STILL a great developer. I don't know how you can say something different. Check the games above, they did not release one high-budget game in the past 7 years or whatever.

Would you say Guerilla Games is a great developer, because they did a pretty good job with Killzone2? Sure, K2 scored well and has great graphics, but you have to keep in mind that this games was developed for almost 5 years and they had a budget that is rumored to be about 60 million USD. In this time and with this budget Rare created 5 games + DLC and the NXE.

I really want to see what Rare would be capable of with the right budget. So it is a good thing, that there is no game made by Rare in 2009. I really hope they will present us that one huge game for fall 2010 next year. With the right budget and development-time, I have absolutely NO doubts, that Rare will show us some great things.

So let's hope they are working on something besides Natal.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I think your version is missing parts.  Here's what I remember:

1. Nintendo owned 49% of Rare

2. The Stamper Brothers wanted to sell the other 51%

3. They offered it to Nintendo first, but they didn't want it

4. Microsoft bought the 51%

5. Nintendo sold their 49% to Microsoft

as far as i am concerned , all the critics are morons for the way they have scored and reviewed rare's games on the 360. all of them i have enjoyed very much and would recommend them to any fellow gamer, wanting a very good game with breaking new and interesting ground, something alot of companies dont do anymore. i really like rare alot more now , then i ever have before and so do all of my friends. i always have since their 1st game on the 360, will continue to support their gaming passion. this rare is alor better than the past rare, i think. :)

Critics are giving Rare games 8/10... I would say thats good

No, they were going to offer it to nitendo, but microsoft made a bid for it.

You have to consider that Rare has around 200 employees, compared to GG's 130, and the fact that GG are a very inexperienced developer, and in 5 years GG has produced 4 games, 1 was pretty average (Shellshock), 1 was good (KZ), 1 was great (KZ Liberation) and 1 was fantastic....

Anyway, Rare have done a good job mostly, though I would take a 90+ game and Liberation over many 80% ish games
