Forums - Sony - Prediction based off the PS2 emulation rumor.

If it's true, then I believe the reason is so Sony can take advantage of rereleasing titles such as ICO, SoTC, Sly cooper, GoW1&2, Jak, etc on PSN when their respective sequels (or prequels) are out. Perhaps we'll be seeing an influx of older I.Ps from Sony now.

Rereleasing PS2 titles on PSN could be a great way to build up hype for upcomming games for 3rd party devs aswell. (AKA MGS2, Persona, FF, or possibly KH)

This could be huge for PSN, in terms of increasing its and the PS3's value.

Well M$ has done it for a while, so Sony are late to the party... but better late than never!

They could limit it to the more expensive SKU. If it costs them nothing to implement it and only a select few actually want it, then they may be willing to pay more for it. It would make sense from a financial perspective anyway, its like the difference between the Premium and Elite Xbox 360 consoles for example.

yeah, i dunno why they got rid of b/c completely to begin with. i think they should've kept it in the higher end model so at least it would be available for those who want it.

I think they shouldda dropped wifi before BC.

I thought the GSX was the problem, not the emotion engine?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

No, the US PS3 launch model had both graphics and emotion engine, but the EU PS3 just had the emotion engine for its BC (which is not complete, but good)

^ I feel so emotional, so does that mean that my New Zealand 60GB PS3 has incomplete BC Mr Munkeh111?

maybe putting too much of a dent in the PS2 hardware/software profit line I'd imagine.

Also, chips were pretty expensive to put into the PS3 i think...

When they drop the PS2 completely next year would be great to add the functionality (back) to the PS3s.
