Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 Natal kits with THQ’s developers, Sony PS3 “wands” not yet…

@JEDE3

I don't think microsoft sent Natal dev kits to Sony's first party

Yeah THQ is one company I'd put last if I wanted developer's to make a launch title game for the PS3 wand. I think Sony will have first party developer's work with there technology first before giving it to third party developers. After all how else will Sony be able to show the true technology of the wand without pushing there first party developers to provide.

Hmm, seems a little odd that A) They still had a prototype unit at E3 (the now infamous purple dildo) and now B) the aren't far enough along to provide enough dev kits to all the major publishers out there (whether you like THQ or not, they are still a big, well known publisher). I would think it would be best to get it out to as many publishers/development teams as possible so as many publishers/development teams as possible start getting on board and get the wheels in motion (no pun intended) on as many games as possible to make use of the motion control. That is to say, IF they really want this to be more than just another step in the Eyetoy series of under utilized peripherals of course.

One of Sony's weak points involves dev kits. They are generally not up to speed in this area. Microsoft comes from a developer background, so they seem to be better getting development environments out to developers, and supporting them. And yes, Microsoft has shown issues in the area of doing game hardware (consoles) as documented by the 360.

I'm so sick of this--

Milo was just one section of the Natal demo at E3. There were plenty of other live demos and there were live demos on the Jimmy Fallon show not long ago too. We have plenty of proof that Natal is up and running and ready to be used in games.

Apparently the Fallon demos weren't all that.  The hack of Paradise City wasn't all that either.

Anyhow, will see how it pans out.  There IS a need for a Wii type remote controller in some situations.  Having people yell out "Bang Bang" to fire a gun is NOT an answer.

That's alright. It just goes to show the developing trend of Sony game development.

Sony will only give wand kits to devs willing to spend loads money they will never recoup and Natal games will hit mass market, have more variety and make money.
