Actually, Reach was the UNSC's primary military planet - this was established in Halo Lore well before Natal went into development. The game appears to center around Reach's final stand where all the Spartans (except Master Chief) died.

Oh Coolguy you made me laugh. Like Jereel said. Reach is a planet. It was ahere the war between the Covenant and the Humans really kicked off. There is a book called Fall of Reach which is how Spartan 117 ( Masterchief ) came to be. And also is the events the prelude the beginning to Halo 1. Halo Reach will be based on the conflict there. And going by the book, will be an absolutely awesome game. Loads of Spartans.

I doubt Rising will look better then MGS4. The MGS4 engine was optimised for the PS3. Rising is multiplatform, so the engine will be difficult to fully optimise for either system as it has to work on both consoles.

I hope that is the games background story.
