Forums - Gaming - Will Tales of Vesperia be localized for PS3 or not?

I was discussing this with my Fiance and she brought up a good point that I totally forgot about. If you guys remember last generation Tales of Symphonia came out on Gamecube and had the Only for Gamecube thing on the box in North America but in Japan it did not have it. Later Namco announces that Tales of Symphonia will be ported over to the PS2 yet we never received it overseas. Now move forward to the present and you will notice that the same thing has occured with Tales of Vesperia the box for North America has Only for Xbox 360 on it while the Japan box does not. We have yet to hear any word on a localized version to be coming out of Japan as of yet in Europe or North America. If we don't hear anything by the end of TGS 09 this September I say it won't be coming and instead Namco will pull the same thing they did with ToS last generation. What do you guys think? Will Namco Bandai bring the PS3 version overseas or pull a last gen move on us again??

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

AFAIK for Symphonia Nintendo helped for the localization, and owned something of that game in the West as a result.
Don't think anyone knows for sure if there was anything similar for Vesperia (it did come out almost simultaneously with Japan in the US, did MS help in a similar way?).

If there wasn't such a thing, I think Namco will bring it over, exclusivity period is obviously over for that game, only the localization remains.

P.S. What happened to the US xbox360 release anyway, there were hints that it was discontinued.

Did the PS2 version of ToS have additional content like ToV for PS3 is going to have?

I don't remember tbh but that doesn't mean it is confirmed to come overseas just because they are adding content. I thought the PS2 ToS had some enhancements and stuff done I could be wrong though. I hope it comes overseas for those that have yet to try this excellent game out simply because of not owning an Xbox 360. You can't help but fear they might do it again though and the subtle hints that it might happen are certainly there.

I know it's wikipedia but i've read this somewhere before.

The PlayStation 2 version contains additional features, such as two extra anime cut scenes, several additional optional story scenes and side quests, new monsters, more Techs and Unison Attacks, and additional costumes.

If that is true then it sounds a lot like the same crap they are doing with Tales of Vesperia for PS3. I fear my worries will come true at this rate. I have this game already but honestly I know there are those that are single console owners or even simply just want to try out the new characters, side quest, read the new skits etc. Most people don't want to import a rpg that they can't understand either so many will likely not import if this happens also. I just can't help but see a strong resemblance between what happened then and seems to be happening now.

Well since I don't have a xbox360 and don't plan on getting it, I can only hope its going to be released here. Or at least in US so I can import. Otherwise I'm gonna have to borrow my friends xbox360 (modded one) and play it there. And yes, if I'm going to have to do that, I'm not going to support Namco and not buy it.

You don't need to play it on a modded system it is already out on X360 in Europe now. Aren't games region locked if Publisher decides to do so on PS3 like on X360? I never tried importing anything for PS3 so I'm simply curious on this. I know the systems themselves are not region locked but with X360 it is up to the Publisher to decide if they want to region lock their game.

Fingers crossed they will at least localize it for the US since im sure it wouldn't take that long or cost that long to do it.

@LordMatrix: All PS3 games are region-free. Or all PS3 systems can play all regions, whichever. BluRay discs actually still carry the region sign and DLC is usually tied to the region the disc, so there is some note of the region but it doesn't amount to much when it comes to you playing the game.

Well, I hope it comes over, after playing the xbox360 version together with the fact that they have announced the PS3 one to be fully voiced I can manage with the Japanese, but it's a great game so hopefully PS3 owners outside of Japan can enjoy it too.
