Forums - Sony - Are Sony going bundle crazzy?

@heruamon: Given the cost at which DVDs often sell, I'd be surprised if bundling 5 Sony movies cost much more than $10...

sony needs bundles to sell systems. microsoft uses bundles often too. nintendo hasnt really needed to do any of those things yet. however its getting a MH3 bundle with a new colour in japan as it is struggling. nintendo bundles will probably come in the west in 2010 as a precursor to a pricecut. i like that sony does so much bundles as it mkaes them seem more pro active

what are u talking about, nintendo have bundled wii sport from the beginning, controllers with wii play.

I'm glad to see Sony (Along with Nintendo and Microsoft) bundling products with their systems. Some type of game should be included with every system. Not too long ago it was standard to include a game. But Sony had so much success with the orignial Playstation being sold with a demo disc ( Forcing consumers to purchase a memory card sucked even worse), that the others followed their lead.

Perceived value by a consumer is a great sales tool. It cost virtually nothing to pack in a catalog game or movie. When you purchase your system you should have everything necessary to plug and play. And in my opinion, this includes a game as well.

You've got it backwards.  Wii Play is bundled with a controller.  It's nothing but a tech demo that let Nintendo charge an extra $10 for a controller.  What they did was pure marketing genius.

Well, I guess if it is that cheap...maybe sony should go ahead and do that to boost brd sales ratio.

What Sony needs to do is find a good game that they can bundle with every system they sell ala Nintendo. They can definitely have special edition bundles with big releases such as Grand Theft Auto IV, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Killzone 2, and inFAMOUS, but they really need that one game that will appeal to the majority vast market, is a 1st party IP, shows off the technical advantages of the PS3, and includes all the network features that people can expect from PS3 games such as online multiplayer, downloadable content, trophies, Home support, and possibly game launching.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is good example of a great game to bundle. It's a 1st party IP. It is still argued that it's the best looking console game currently on the market. It features trophies as well as a Home space. The only faults of bundling this game are it's T-rating which could possibly concern parents purchasing it for the family and the fact that it doesn't feature any sort of multiplayer. The sequel fixes the former game's later issue though.

In my opinion the best two games that Sony could bundle with every PS3 would be either LittleBigPlanet or Gran Turismo 5.

they clearing the 80GB and making way for the slim?

you forgot to mention the termonator bundle

Well some companies like Best Buy just add the games when they buy PS3. Like when they buy a PS3, they get Wall-E and LittleBigPlanet for free. I don't think they added that inside the box.
