Also worth noting, 2008 PS3 > 2009 360 > 2009 PS3 > 2008 360.

So enough with the doom and gloom! The 360 didn't exactly die after 2008, did it?

but

2009 360> 2008 360 > 2007 360  keep getting stronger

2008 PS3 >2009 PS3 > 2007 PS3

But whos to say that "low sales"-improvements is the same as "getting stronger". And not on par with previous-"high sales" is "losing" ?

Example:

Day 1 - Chipmunk A collects 2 apples for winter, and Chipmunk B collects 3 apples (providing Chipmunks eat apples :))
Day 2 - Chipmunk A collects 3 apples for winter, and Chipmunk B collects 5 apples
Day 3 - Chipmunk A collects 4 apples for winter, and Chipmunk B collects 3 apples.

Why is it that Chipmunk A by default is "going strong", while Chipmunk B is "losing"? When the total adds up to a total of 9 apples vs 11 apples?

Poor analogy and rather meaningless in this context

Well then.. try this one on for size.

Why is it that "lower sales"-improvements is the same as "getting stronger". While "not on par with previous high sales" is "losing"?

Year 1 360 sells 2.3m, PS3 sells 2.4m
Year 2 360 sells 3.4m, PS3 sells 4.7m
Year 3 360 sells 4.1m, PS3 sells 3.7m

So why is it that the 360 by default is "going strong", while PS3 is "losing"? When the total adds up to 9.8m vs 10.8m?

So if the 360 should end up on 3.9 next period, is it the same as "losing", or a "nose dive"? And if the PS3 sells 3.9 next period, would that be equal to "going stronger" since it improved their last result?

@kowenicki : and still, PS3 sold more from launch than 360 on the same time frame.

@ Tony Parker, since the PS3 launched, the 360 has sold more in THAT timeframe ... so alliged launches means nothing. If only to console yourself.

@ seece

Dont waist your breath on Tony_Parker.....believe me, the rest of the community doesnt.

On topic: The 360 is the only console to be up Year over Year and continuing to sell extremely well.......period. The numbers dont lie. There is no way to downplay it.

MS got it right this gen......congrats. Now with the 360/PS3 gap at almost 9 mil MS has to be extremely happy with it's current position.

^^ yeah I don't understand why he hasn't been banned yet, obvious alt account.

I bet Microsoft are very happy, 3 years after the PS3 has launched and the 360 will be 9 - 10 million ahead, I don't think anyone could have guessed it back then!

Of course the 360 is selling more, they cut the price in half because PS3 killed them at a higher price before last september.

I think considering both consoles sell the same and one is twice as expansive, the PS3 is at least as successful as the 360 right now, it's no rocket science to say that.

I see it seems to hurt you a lot, maybe you should ask yourself why you're being so agressive when someone disagrees with you, unless you're unsecure with your purchase.

If anything, scee, I think you're the one who should be banned considering I'm constantly attacked while I don't attack anybody.

I think we can safely say in this console generation that games do not drive console sales enough to make a difference. If this was the case the PS3 would be gaining steam as the quality of releases for this year and last was matched by no other console on the market. For 2009 and 2010 it's looking like an even larger gap between the ps3's quality games and the competitors, at least considering announced titles as of right now.

This console generation is interesting, since gaming is now the popular thing to do in life, and no longer a nerds hobby, sales are vastly driven by what the cool kids at school have. I would assume most of XB360 sales come from people who only care about having the same console everyone else at school does.

But what do I know, I've been out of high school for longer than I'd like to think. Still, that definitely has a large push, it's the only reason the xb had any sales at all.

Not to say the 360 doesn't have games for everyone, because it does, and great ones too, but you know very well that out of the 10million halo fans, about 1million of them are real gamers. I honestly think people underestimate the influence of halo, it brought gaming to the casuals of the world, and made them think that they were real gamers. It created a generation of people who play nothing but halo and gears. Actually, the sales and success of the XB360, and the sales and success of the gears of war franchise are almost completely because of Halo. I Would even go as far to say that call of duty owes a lot of its success to halo as well. It's really interesting how much influence a casual shooter can have on the gaming industry, and I hope to see other companies design games similarly. (ie; masking a hardcore genre with a casual game) Would surely open up more doors for other genres to gain an audience.

I think while sony will keep pumping out incredibly high quality games year over year, and will remain THE console to own for the best games as it is now, it will never catch up in share because without a game that draws the casuals to its platform like halo, sony will never be able to gain the interest of millions of children like the xbox360 has. Why would they want a PS3? No ones going to brag about getting kills in resistance in a school locker room, even though it is an infinitely better game than Halo.

Stop crying over this non exsiting "attacking" you're talking bullshit and people are calling you out on it, nobody is going to get banned over that, in fact half of what you say is lies, and thats against the forum rule spreading lies.

Its hard to express emotion over the internet, trust me when I read your posts its not hurt I feel, more so I break into laughter.

And no they're not selling the same.

Well scee, you just made 3 or 4 posts of personal attacks against me demanding I'm banned, so of course it seems you felt hurt by my posts.

And if you think they don't sell the same right now, just take weekly worldwide numbers on VG, you'll see the difference is minimal (less than 15%).

Again, point out these attacks, before I report you (again)

I don't feel hurt, id just rather you gone so I don't have to read rubbish.

this week sales will be 90k vs 115k - 25k difference, thats not 10 - 15%
