So, I'm sorta following a policy of only accepting friend invites from people that I think are actually my friends (have a close enough relationship with me, actually see me outside of school (and a lot of people outside of school request me), etc...

Is this a bad policy? Am I taking it too seriously? Will I seem unfriendly?

If you start accepting requests from random people it kinda defeats the purpose of having a list of friends anyway. Instead of having one place you can go to keep in touch with friends you know, it becomes an incredibly long list of completely random people.

I say stick with the current policy.

No, that's a good thing. Why add people if they'll just clutter up your homepage with status updates you don't care about? Plus, if you don't know each other well, I doubt they'd care if you refuse; they just want to increase their friend count.

That's my view, anyway.

i only add people who meet these 2 criteria:

1. I Know Them
2. They Are Nice People

That used to be my policy, then I discovered mobwars...Now I just hide the feeds from people who are not my friends.

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

Depends. If you're going to see those people often, then you might seem rude. If you're never going to see them again, then it doesn't really matter. Me personally I don't care so much. I pretty much just accept whoever adds me. I figure if they went through the "effort" to add me, they must think we're friends, or think of me positively.

Most of my "friends" are people I know through work (Canadian Army). Considering I see most of them pretty often, I never really figured out the point of facebook, and abandoned it.

Well, I have to at least know them in some sort of way. I don't accept requests from total strangers.
