That is one things about forums I find weird.
Dudes are like 30+ years old but act like "fanboys". Some people never grow up. And surprisingly, neither does their vocabulary. You should see some of these "sentences"..............

yeah a lot more ps3 fanboys, I'm actually pretty sure this gen will be remembered for it instead of the games.
I'm just saying that ALL internet polls, and especially the VGChartz internet poll, should be taken with a grain of salt. It is amazing that these polls always come out with the PS3 on top, when that is far from the consensus in the press, and amongst fair minded people.
Our polls are basically popularity contests, and completely biased opinions, not reality.
If every poll was:
What is your favorite console:
PS3
Wii
360
Then the results would be they exact same as they are right now, just the question would be different.
This gen is very polarizing, and every stary-eyed kid who brought their vastly expensive PS3 home, only to have it flamed on a message board, is now a grizzled console war troll who would stab your mother if you owned a 360.
PS3 owners simply have more invested in their PS3. Moneywise, at least. Thus, they are more prone to defend it against criticism, and sing its praises to justify their investment.

As people have already said Sony has built up a massive fanbase with PS1 and PS2.
Also the Wii has won this generation and 360 is near certain to take 2nd in terms of sales. PS3 fans on the other hand are still waiting for the miraculous recovery and a site orientated around sales data seems a good place to wait.
Not all people who claim to own a PS3 own one. Some just do it for the lulz and to start flame wars.

^ this. I get 3rd degree burns irl whenever I see someone try to bash nintendo on here. I see a whole lot more wii fans on VGC than anything else.
