Forums - Sales - Is the Sony marketing machine (of games) broken...

marvellous... what utter shite some people spout

3 out of 5 huh? So whats the attach rate for the 360 then? Must be incredible.

No kidding.  That means 360 fans must be purchasing 3 copies of every game and those broken systems must just be thrown in the trash and not repaired for free under warranty or sold on eBay to be fixed by other individuals.

So the attach rate must be closer to 25 games per console sold!  Insane!

Why did RE5, SF4 and some other multiplats sold more on PS3 if there's 8 million installed base gap ? That's pretty suspicious, isn't it ?

Nobody answered that one. It's strange those 8 million happy xbox shadow owners didn't make any difference. Were they in vacation ?

Could it be that they didn't want those games?

Why is it that other than those multiplats which can be counted on one hand, all of them sold better on 360 and sometimes even twice as much?

Did PS3 fans just not care about those games as much?  Were they like too busy watching blu-rays to play any games?

See how retarded you sound, Tim_Duncan?

One thing is for sure the gap is closing and that chokes up certain people who really seem to jizz in their pant's when they brag about the slightest sales advantage.

like i said its just one store not speeking for gamestop as a whole, and btw the nasty lil mark left on games when u touch the 360 while standing up is a pretty big problem too, ive seen a shit ton of kids ruining many copies of games that way.

The gap isn't closing.... it is still growing.  Every week the 360 has about 15% higher sales and all those add to the gap.

Yeah, hang on your 10k more consoles sold every week, MS soldiers. I doubt it will be enough if Sony cuts the PS3 price or releases Gran Turismo 5 though.

By the way, if things go on like this, PS3 could even sell more than 360 even before the price cut in a few weeks since the weekly sales gap goes down and down...

@night : you're the one that sounds retarded here. My point is if a console has REALLY a 8 million lead, no multiplatform should sell more on the other console, that's just a too big gap for that, at least it's very suspicious. RE5 is a shooter in a way, and shooter fans are on 360, so your sad excuse doesn't hold at all.

Piracy would have been a much better explanation... But I definitely suspect the VG reported installed gap is much closer to zero considering the huge number of people who bought 2 or 3 or even more 360.

@gilgamesh

So what you are saying is that the gaming install base of the PS3 is lower than it appears? as it is skewed by many PS3 consoles purchased not being used for games at all or very little?

i can vouch for one ps3 that doesn't play games at all..and i got 2 friend who can do the same...so that's 3 ps3 that dont get played for games at all...

all 3 of us friends own 2 ps3 each...and one used for blu-ray only....the other one is just games...

one sits in living room...the other in my/their own room...

i'm sure we're not the only ones who do that

The point of dbot's closed thread was to stop threads like these from popping up.

Sad, sad, Tim_Duncan.

Saying that a multiplat would never sell better on the PS3 even being 8 million less in install base defies the laws of probability.

Having less than 5 that sell better on PS3 (and mostly because they are ex-Sony franchises new to the 360: RE5, SF4), is actually more than acceptable.

And let me teach you a little something about math and percentages:

The 360 has steadily outsold the PS3 by 10-20% since the start of 2009.  At the beginning of 2009, they sold numbers such as the following:

Console PS3 X360
Total
327,526
382,600

Now, that means that the 360 was outselling the PS3 by 15% for that week, which was a 55k lead.  And last week the numbers were:

Console PS3 X360
Total
105,083
119,390

What do you know, the difference is still 13.1% and has barely changed.  Oh and that's also more than 10k just so you know   The only reason they look to be selling so closely is because both are selling about a third of their old amounts.  This means that when 55k used to be 15%, now only 18k is 15%.

Congratulations, you've just been schooled and can now graduate from ignorant fanboy status!
