Sharper but smaller....

And sure the other PSP resolutions are the same because the screen never really changed.

I mean it makes sense to keep the resolution, because if you changed it then older games wouldn't fit correctly in the screen without some sort of scaling, but at the same time keeping the resolution and shrinking the screen could make some objects too small or hard to see.

I've never owned a PSP, though, and won't likely get this one. Portable gaming this generation just hasn't been the same as the last ones.

What's with the upsetness over the price?

$249.99 == bigger cut for retailers who dont' get to sell software for the device.

Do you guys think retail will sell these units out of kindness to Sony? They sell PSP-3000 units near cost, because they make money on software sales. The PSP Go they won't see a dime from after the initial sale, unless its a memory stick, or accessory, or something. Retailers exist to make money, and Sony wouldn't be able to move these units without the retailers.

Hence, the $249.99 pricetag. Digital software is good for everyone... but retail (and pirates).  It amazes me that this isn't more blatently obvious on a supposed sales-focused site.

@Procrastinato : It's more a fanboy-focused site actually, mostly a MS fanboy-focused site.

Sales are just used as materials in PS3 doom threads.

On a more serious note, I guess you're right on the margin. I can understand retailers don't want to sell that console, since it's like theyre shooting themselves in the foot.

This sounds extremely familiar.  And is hilarious since this site has more PS3 fanboys and Wii fanboys than 360 fanboys.

@People talking about screen size

How large you actually "percieve" a screen being, actually involves a non-trivial amount of Projective Geometry. Size means nothing without knowing the viewing distance (and angle) and DPI. Invoking the analogy used earlier in thread, whether or not a 50 inch tv is going to be preferred over a 42 inch tv which both have the same dpi depends on how far you are sitting. At a distance of 3 feet you are going to prefer the 42. At a distance of 20 feet you are going to prefer the 50.

Think about the difference between how a Go would probably be held versus a normal PSP and about the relative angles you would comfortably hold both of them. It doesn't seem too far fetched that given the differences in ergonomics and the lighter weight, all things being equal, users would tend to hold a Go significantly closer to their faces.
