This is what I don't understand about a lot of environmental concerns ...

It's completely acceptable to produce batteries, lightbulbs, and solar pannels which are full of toxic chemicals that posion the environment when they are produced or thrown away, its entirely justified to kill hundreds of thousands of birds and bats in a single year with wind generation, but it is unacceptable to produce waste with a similar background radiation level to the level the material had when it was removed from the environment and then store it in a safe location (like an abandoned mine shaft).

I think that with nuclear power, NIMBY is a bigger problem, with the plants but especially with the waste, than any "left-wingers".

I would agree about wanting more research and information. After geology and astronomy classes, science is interesting in that what everybody thought was right can be proven wrong as more information becomes available. So while I think that we could try to have less of an impact on the environment by continuing to watch what we do and clean up the environment that's already been affected by stuff like pollution for example, I'm skeptical about jumping on board with the fear mongering (though I'm not saying that changes in climate aren't real, because that would be stupid to say).

This global warming has worked out great for me in Arizona. We had almost the coolest June on record ever!

I'm fine if people want to make the world a cleaner place. I am all for that. The new energy bill though that Obama is peddling is going to be the biggest tax increase in the history of our country.

You can't over tax the use of fossil fuels and then not allow new nuclear alternatives. Where are we supposed to get energy from? Can we say, "Tax dollars to pay for Liberal agenda"?
