Forums - General - New Radiohead Album announced - You decide how much you want to pay for it

I don't know how many Radiohead fans there are that visit this site, but they are a band that i frequently listen to.  It's been a long time waiting, but the new Radiohead album, titled In Rainbows, was announced today.

Perhaps the most interesting and fascinating part of this announcement is the fact that when they offer the album to be downloaded from their website, you get to decide how much you want to pay for it.

Any Radiohead fans excited by this announcement?

What do you guys think of this new, creative, innovative (to the best of my knowledge) method of distribution ?

"and this just feels like. Spinning plates"

very great band, currently i only own "the Bends" and a CD my friend made for me with a few of his favourites. (he is a big fan himself, i think he has some a rare Japanese version of a single, or something...dunno much about it, can't remember the song)

as for downloading from their website, sounds like a cool idea but i rarely download songs and have only once done a whole album.

If you pay how much it's worth they would probably have to end up giving me about $10 and an extra dollar for every song it has beyond the first 15.

kid a was the pinnacle of their career for me....amnesiac was like kid a part deux...and hail to the thief was meh. here's hoping I like the new one.

I'd pay for Creep, other than that...zzz

But it will be interesting to watch the average pay...

Creep? meh Creep is bad radiohead, almost sounds like *shudder* Greenday.

admitedly my version of Creep is one of few songs i have downloaded and happens to have the end cut off, so that doesn't help, but i'm still not keen on the song.

each to their own i suppose.

very interesting read.

and by the way, creep is a terrible song. Every single member in Radiohead even admits it.  Pablo Honey was a pretty terrible album.

I like Karma Police and Paranoid Android, any hardcore Radiohead fans going to chew me out for those two? =P

I also enjoyed listening to their cover of Wonderwall XD

Anyway, I might buy the new album, currently I don't own any but I will probably buy a couple sometime.

Oh crap. I read the link and it says paying $0.00 is totally acceptable. I might have to like Radiohead again. I haven't liked them since Kid A, but I totally support this amazing experiment and so I have to download it from their web site instead of anywhere else, to help inflate their download count by +1!

I just payed $0.00 for it.
This idea is just so awesome that if the music is good I'll definately buy the actual CD as well, just to say I love them.
