Forums - General - Remember the Atheism bus ad and billboard? Now a christian group starts one

Nothing like two extremist sides battling it out...with the final outcome of whoever wins....we still lose. Some groups of people take things WAY to far...like the group who dedicate themselves to the Flat Earth Society....they still (in 2009) believe the earth is flat. Those people are cuckoo heads...and should be shut down/neutered.

I think ill stick with atheism.

after watching that, i'm glad that i am an atheist!

Hmm, I think it might not be exactly referring to atheists here. As it says "If God doesn't matter", which could mean someone who believes in God but doesn't care anyways (moral-less person in other words). On the other hand, this is Answers in Genesis, which, of course, especially emphasize creationism, and thus directly oppose atheism, so it could be that as well.
But, in any event, it would be no different than the countless times I've heard about how religion is responsible for all the wars on earth and the like.

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

The ad just confuses me. And atheists are obviously the dangerous ones. It certainly wasn't Christian people who shot an abortion doctor recently and murdered people at the Holocaust memorial.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

This is disturbing because the message of the two ads is 1:Atheists don't care about anyone and and will kill you in a heartbeat. and 2: Nobody likes atheists. Because if you don't matter to god, you don't matter to anyone.

I mean that is disgusting. That is just an attempt to inculcate prejudice by means of (barely) subtle hate speech.

That's true actually. The amount of times someone has told me I don't have morals because I am atheist is immense. Of course I have morals, I would never kill anyone, I wouldn't hurt a fly, I would never steal, I work as hard as I can at things i feel are a good use of my time... and that does not include genocide.

If you look up atheist on conservapedia you can see the prejudice saying all atheists are lying murderers straight away.

Do u misunderstand on purpose or something? It's not that atheists dont have literally any morals, the point is that an atheist never can have absolute morals. (or 'universal morals', or call it whatever u want, the essence is the same)

The billboard I understand, but the ad directly contradicts Christianity. All people matter to God whether they're atheist or not.

But that's exactly the point of the ad! It's the message of the loving God, who even cares for a sparrow.

Think for a moment and you'll get it.

I guess. I word it this way, "If you think you don't matter to God,......"

Because I didn't think about it that way.

^Spot on.

I agree the ad was bad though, very confusing, especially for people who dont know much about the (real) christian way of viewing other people.

wow, a lot of people don't get it...so I guess it's a bad ad. I am saddened that all the atheist are gathering around this ad and spewing hate for a religion they choose not to understand. I don't know that this ad is really a true representation of christian religions.
