Forums - Nintendo - [ ! ] RE Archives. Who's got it & how are the new controls?

As the title states.  Just curious if its any better than the GC controls, similar to RE4 Wii? Thnx. Any new features as well?

Probably gonna pick up a copy of this even tho i dont own a Wii....yet.  I feel its one of those games thatll be hard to find later if i keep waiting.

They just remapped the controls so they would work on the Wii, but you might as well be playing the GC version as it is essentially the same thing. I don't think they added any new Wii support at all other than saving to internal flash. They really should have done what they did with RE4 Wii Edition, but they didn't.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Sounds like an extremely lazy port and a very big missed opportunity to get good sales

The most important question is can we use GCN-kontrollers with the Wii-version

I think it does have GC controller support, though i'm not entirely sure. Am i correct in saying RE4 Wii Edition had support for the GC controller as well?

I'm still anoyed that Archives has minimal upgrades, does it at least have improved graphics?

How technical is your game?

Here is Capcom's list of Key Features. They make no mention of any upgrades at all. I really think this is just a port with no Wii specific upgrades at all. If you have a GC controller and a GC memory card already I would suggest you just buy the GC version for cheap.

• The Original, Reborn: This is a Wii version of the classic Resident Evil remake, originally released on GameCube in 2002 which featured new rooms, areas, items and creatures that were not included in the PlayStation original released in 1996
• Survival of the Fittest: Battle against putrid zombies, infected dogs and horrific gigantic bosses as you struggle to survive
• Defense Weapons: Defensive weapons protect characters when being attacked
• Your Favorite Resident Evil Characters on the Wii: Play as Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, who each uncover two completely different paths as they explore deep within the horrific mansion
• In-depth Puzzles: Solve dangerous, intricate puzzles and uncover terrifying secrets
• More than 10 Different Game Endings: Unique endings dependent upon play decisions and successes

So it's just another lame ass port from Capcom?

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Yeah, it's basically a cheap port. Quick cash-in, can't say I blame 'em. People are gobbling up Resident Evil games whenever they get released, or re-released, or in this case re-re-released. It's guaranteed to sell decently, with almost zero effort. They need *something* to finance all their bigass new 'core' games.

Did the GC version support widescreen and progressive scan? Does this version?

If there's no difference in TV support, I'll just get the GC version.

I have the GC version and I tried it on the Wii a few weeks ago, and it did not run on progressive mode. Before I sold my GC I had the first release models that had progressive video support, but I can't remember if Resident Evil ran on progressive mode.

I though maybe something was wrong but I tried Rogue Squadron and it does run on progressive mode on the Wii.

So, the Wii version is at least 480p. Not sure about widescreen though.
