Forums - Nintendo - Resident Evil 4: Wii V.S. GameCube

The wii version of RE4 is hands down the best version you will find on any platform.
The controls the wiimote offers to this game are simply unmatched by anything else.

RE4:wii edition is still one of my favorite games of all time and I own the game for 3 different platforms ;)

Current Favorites:

There's no reason to buy the GC version if the Wii version is available to you, it's just better in every way.

  • Controls-- you get the far better Wii controls along with the Classic Controller and Gamecube controls
  • Graphics-- widescreen support
  • Content-- You get the extra PS2 content

The only reason you might get the GC version over the Wii version is price, but even that isn't much of a difference.  You can the GC version for about $5-10 while the Wii version costs about $20.

Almost. The If the GC version is NTSC, ammo is mor plentiful. If you aren't good at saving ammo, that's one advantage.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Wii definitly. Awesome game. Best RE, but not the best RE horror game. You`re going to have a blast with this game compared to RE5 which seems more like a co-op spin-off.

Well I hope you're all happy. After reading the endorsements on this thread I bought RE4:Wii on my way home from work. That money could have gone to something more useful (like the retirement I'll likely never be able to afford to enjoy, anyway) but nooooooo, I had to go buy the game. I'm such a sheep sometimes. Baaaah!

Bah!

Are you regretting the purchase?

Hahahah no, it was just sarcasm. However, I did buy it because of all the recommendations from this site. I am looking forward to cracking it open now and playing it a little bit before bedtime.

Bah!

You won't find the GC version much cheaper than the Wii version, and YES it's SO much better with the remote! It's like the game was built from the ground up with the remote in mind. Since Leon doesn't move when he aims, you have 0 camera issues that some other shooting games have had on Wii. And also, you can use the GC controller with the Wii version, just plug it in and the game will detect it. So really, there's no reason not to get the Wii version. Even if you hate the remote for this game (I'm thinking that's impossible) You can always use the GC controller anyway.
