Apart from technically great graphics and smooth controls, what have good have you ever heard about the Conduit? Let's make a list.

Great design - no.
Innovative gameplay - no.
Awesome weaponry - no.
Intelligent enemies - no.
Groundbreaking story - no.
Epic battles - no.
Addictive online - no.

Really, if the Conduit had been released on any platform other than the Wii, it would have recieved no hype or interest in any way, and it would immediately been judged as a subpar game on all levels.

This said, I haven't played the game. I can only judge from PR, impressions and trailers.

I get your point and agree with it, but that last point - addictive online, well that's actually one of the features why The Conduit is hyped. If it didn't have good online no one would hype it.

The Conduit is basically a mainstream shooter with great graphics, perfect controls and fun online. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's pretty damn hard to pull a 90+ shooter off, especially when you consider who made the shooter. This is the devs' first serious try, pretty much, on a console with weaker graphics & online, both being extremely important to the FPS genre. The Wii's main draw is the controls, and HVS knows it, which is why they went so far as to let you completely customize your own.

So, I think expecting a 90sh metacritic is a little unreasonable, hell, few 360 shooters have managed the feat. I did hope for around 85sh though, we'll see what happens (though I'm buying either way). If you're hoping for a Gears of War quality shooter on the Wii, I suggest you wait a bit longer. Erm, hopefully one will come someday...

I wanted to be able to customize a cheat code in there. UUDDLRLRBA to kill everything on screen.

dont most of the reviews say it lacks any innovation or originality... just run and gun?

yes but that is just the single player mode where you spend 8 hours learning how to play and then go online.

I believe most reviews for games were online is the principal feature are not trustworthy before release. I'm not saying they are worst before than after (looking for SSBB) but they may not have experienced all things possible to happen (like in this thread were people who has the game played against few people online).

the most important part is still the word "fun." if you are having fun with a game, then it's a game for you.

why is the opinion of other people on games so important to you? i don't get it!

GTA IV got 10 but is not even close to perfect

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I've stated before we have too many The Conduit threads clogging up the forums, I don't mind a few but enough is enough there's a reason we have an official thread.

This is the ONLY true fps that's been made for the Wii with atleast two yrs of dev. effort involved. Thats why people will buy this.

Nothing else has been made for the wii ground up and considering the number of Wii's sold this fact is truely pathetic. My advice would be to stop making excuses for why you won't buy, make excuses for why your willing to prevent other wii owners from enjoying this experience.

Its disgusting that people don't understand what theyre doing to Wii dev., after all it is our own fault if they don't make core games for the system.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

This is great for Wii owners, but a game to get you to buy a wii? not even close. The ONLY thing it has on HD shooters is wii motion (which is a big plus) but if you don't like that selnor then I don't think you're ever going to pick up a wii because of a shooter.
