Are you following through on your swings? I know that this sounds like obvious advice but when I remind myself to actually follow through instead of flicking my wrist, I tend to be more accurate.

I think I am following through.  However, I just can't seem to get the ball where I want to although that seems to be improving a bit.  The shot I am struggling with is when I am at one end of the court and want to hit the ball straight.  The ball always seems to go diagonal right back to where my opponent is.

Do you know how to put spin on the ball?  It's very similar to real tennis in that way.

A downward swing does a slice and an upward swing puts top spin on the ball.  It is a little tricky to figure out exactly how to do it.

Also where you are in your swing when you make contact with the ball is a factor.

Never played tennis in my life.  Maybe that's why I am struggling.

Practice against the game AI and when you start winning consistently try online.  That's about all I can say.

Do you play football (soccer)?  Imagine that the racket is like your foot if that makes sense at all.  LOL

I strongly recommend using the Nunchuck! 1) It's more fun as you feel great when you get to the right place at the right time and score a winner 2) there is not back hand/fore hand mixup problems 3) Your'll be elite :P

I only won games online after I started to relax and get used to the way real players think and how they mix up the shots, getting to the right place in time to return in a strong position...serve and volleying is really key in this game.

The name is Xentional, right now I'm at 293 which is hopelessly bad but it's up from being down at 122 which was my low point.
Keep playing and you'll win some games!

Just keep playing. This game demands patience to even score a point. After ~10 hours of play at most, you'll get the hang of it and enjoy it.

And what was that about best at Mario Kart Wii? HAHAHAHA!

After 4 and a half hrs in Grand Slam(normal) i still not win even a single match(actually 1, but it's Australian double not real single match.)

But i really feel improvement after every match i play, i think play few more hrs and i'll be able to win some matches. :P

Btw, i didn't play or watch tennis for about 15 yrs now. XP

And for someone that confuse about control, side way of the wii remote is your front racket. :D

Just keep trying, Remember to :

*Always re-center your wii-mote (point it toward the TV) after every shot

*when M+ goes crazy turn it upside down and at rest for 2 seconds, if you don't have time in an online game sometimes just moving your character a little and twisting the remote helps make it go back to normal.

*Move in toward the net to the middle line when ever you can and if possible do a diagonal drop shot away from the player.

*Remeber which way a player normally reacts to a shot and position yourself where you think the ball is most likely to go.

*Don't be afraid to go for winners - computers don't make many mistakes so you might lose if you do to much bass line play.

*Don't let lag throw you off your game when you play online.

*Online play is very different to the Computer AI - so PLAY differently. If your style doesn't work, mix up your shots and try out new ideas.
