ok, we have an option to turn it off, I'm not sure if you made it so you only get cheats for games you owned though. If you did, can you make that an option, as I'd rather see every cheat request listed (obviously for modding reasons too)

Also, to game db admins, if you delete a cheat it gets deleted for everyone, so don't delete it unless it is just spam or sitting there for months on end. For the most part you guys should never be deleting cheat requests.

We can delete them if someone answers it right?

It should auto-delete if someone puts information in. However, I don't know how well this will work, but either way I don't expect anyone to have to check them to see if they were answered or not.

How the hell is "tooltips" more descriptive than "extras" when listing what extras - i.e tropies / achievements are available for a game?

*sigh*  You totally misunderstood me.

I wasn't suggesting renaming it to "tooltips," I was suggesting having a little tooltip appear when you hover your mouse over it that says something like "Achievements, Trophies, Rewards" that tells you what Extras is.

If you're sensing attitude from me then it's only frustration at people misunderstanding what I'm saying.

Do we get VG$ for submitting this stuff? Never knew about this function before.....

And your comments are appreciated, just the way that you've knocked a few features in this thread alone without even exploring them or seeing what is there. This is where most of the development time and improvement during vgchartz 2.0 was put in and it annoys both me and Pat that a lot of this stuff was totally overlooked when the site launched in favour of "omg we have white text" and all the rest of it. Most of the new features are listed here for anyone who hasn't yet seen it:

http://vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=2199320

I understand, but keep in mind that my comments above were "at-a-glance."  For a lot of users, "at-a-glance" is all they will ever see.  If they don't find what they're looking for right that second then they'll leave for another website.  I'm not used to using the games pages (or even looking at them) yet.  I'm looking at these pages through the eyes of someone who has no idea where things are.  I'm trying to give feedback based on that because pretty soon I'll know where everything is and what everything does and I'll have lost the ability to give you this kind of feedback.

A nice little forum topic is great for forum regulars and people who diligently check all threads, but if you're hoping to attract new users with these areas then everything needs to be as obvious and as intuitive as possible.

Also, the VGChartz 2.0 FAQs page answers some questions people have about game pages and goes over all the new features. I will be updating it again when I get a chance to include this new feature and some other minor changes.

edit: the ultimate intent of the FAQ thread I posted above is to provide new users a way to find out about this website. Since my FAQ isn't complete, we haven't made a formal webpage out of it, but hopefully as I finish it off we can make a usefull help page out of it.

If someone answers a question and fulfills a request can the info be sent via forum PM to the requesting person? This is much akin to the "You have new wall posts" feature that simply lets you know that it was taken care of.

Also, if you don't like the answer someone gives, can you re-open your question or do you have to re-request it again and again until you get an answer that helps you?

how do i take off my cheat request that i posted for punch out

Right now you have to re-request work. We have a few options, and our current setup seems to be the best, but I'm sure we can improve on it. My thoughts on the system are.

1) user requests help, and only the submitter or db admins can delete the request (actually not a horrible idea now that I type it out)
2) the request can only be deleted by db admins.
3) the request is auto-cleared when an appropriate cheat is submitted (walkthough for a walkthough, or FAQ for a FAQ)

The problem with 1 & 2 is that the queue could become very backed up and we were thinking of having an auto-delete after a few months, but not sure how great that would be either.

pm or post on a game dbadmins wall. Do you not need the help any more? I'm going to flesh out the FAQ and cheats for that game once I actually get around to finishing it.
