Well in the case of the YOLD it works. The YOLD appears mostly because the processor is overheating. The console prevents it by shutting down automatically. You only need to change the thermal paste (and clean out the dust) for it to work again. I know several people who've repaired their 60Go after a YOLD and their console works now like a charm, and it's a very easy fix. |
Yeah I also know that for every 100 you attempt to fix 10% usually are dead, even when heated properly and using high quality liquid flux. I still don't know the longevity of the fix personally though either which is another consideration.
