Forums - Nintendo - Why is there is no Goldeneye on the VC? Nintendo leader not happy!!

There was a rumor of it reaching XBL nearly a year ago, however, it was never legally possible. See, Nintendo and Rare aren't friends after Rare pretty much tried to suck Nintendo dry, financially speaking. Rare created the game, but Nintendo acquired the licensing rights for the movie to game rights. Now, since MS owns Rare, they don't want to give Nintendo rights to put the game on VC, and in turn Nintendo won't give Rare/MS permission to use their movie-to-game rights.

So really, its both Microsoft and Nintendo being bastards. Of course, if you want a much better game than Goldeneye, pick up Time Splitters 2. Far more fun.

Perfect Dark is going to 360 and that was an N64 game. It's gotta have something to do with MS owning Rare.

You should really study up a bit on what you're posting about. Rare wanted to put an updated version of Goldeneye on XBL and only the classic version on VC, Nintendo (understandably) didn't want this - because it's not fair. If Rare/Microsoft backs down and either gives the Wii the updated version as well or goes with just the classic version on both services then that would be fair and fine but they won't because they (like Nintendo and all companies) are in the business to make money - not to make other people money.

BTW. You (megaman.2) are NOT MY NINTENDO LEADER!!
I think it is appalling that one of the biggest anti-nintendo trolls on this site (top 10 at least) is calling himself Nintendo leader (you don't even deserve the stupid Sony Leader title and now you want all 3, get a life!!!)

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Watching the same story circle around and grow with each telling reminds me of that old children's game "Telephone."

Perfect Dark was not published by Nintendo though. Goldeneye is Nintendo's property... too.

Wouldn't you call product delays of 2 + years while demanding more development money sucking a company dry?

This game is stuck in an eternal and inintangible, unravelable limbo of copyrights, it will never ever see the light of day on ANY legitimate console or downloadservice, old or new.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Wii Friend Code: 4094-4604-1880-6889

Nostalgia plays a big role in this game, so there is a lot people, including myself wanting to see this game come out again, on both sides!

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

The President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, announced that Nintendo is exploring the possibility of adding GoldenEye 007 to the Wii Virtual Console, despite a complicated situation in which the game's developer Rare is owned by Microsoft (producers of the rival Xbox 360 console) and the video game rights to the James Bond franchise are held by Activision. He stated, "We would love to see it [on the Virtual Console], so we're exploring all the rights issues.

On January 7, 2008, Xbox Evolved confirmed the existence of GoldenEye 007 on Xbox Live Arcade. On January 11, 2008, 1UP.com reported that a GoldenEye port (as opposed to a remake) had been in development at Rare for several months, but stated that the title would not be released on the Xbox Live Arcade since "Microsoft and Nintendo couldn't agree on the financial side of things
