Forums - Microsoft - The PS3 related turmoil amongst 360 users

@prophecty,

except I watch HD movies all the time on my 360....

The VAST majority of people buy consoles for games.

Sure many early PS3 adopters bought it for movies only but not any more.... its too expensive for that. Maybe we should knock a couple of million of the front page figures to reflect this?

Are you trying to say that we should not count those who bought ps3 for movies on the sales figure?....yeh then lets also knock off those who re bought 360s because their old one broke yes?

No I was just countering your idiotic (fanboy) statement that the 360 is for games only. This is the console that more people watch movies on than any other... netflix ring a bell?

Oh and you have great fanboy credentials with your last statement too... most people just ring MS and get a free replacement... they dont buy another. Unlikle the PS2.

LOL.....who was the one who started the IDIOTIC statement that one console is only for movies and one is for games? Your frikin hillarious.

Bit early in the year for damage control MikeB, Ghostbusters finally hit home that leading on the PS3 will not fix it's terrible dev support requiring too many man hours to get equivalent or better results.

On the subject of games that have actually been released that rival the 360 seriously in most 360 fans opinions is MGS4, Unchartered and Killzone 2. Thats just 3 games that stand out and each one had plenty of time and money thrown at them that no third party will do. Your argument may have more merit if the 360 is unable to reproduce Final Fantasy XIII at equivalent levels, the only exception I reckon is video will not be encoded to 1080p which for the vast majority of users is not an issue anyway. Finally those 3 titles I mentioned above are not "well beyond" titles availble on the 360 either.

Finally I'm pretty sure PAL DVD's are encoded to 576p aren't they, so for a lot of users they don't watch 480p at all, or did you skip that fact because as usual it made your argument less relevant. When you compare 576p to 720p the difference isn't so great, at least thats what the PS3 fans have told us regarding Ghostbusters resolution drop (funny how its not only 360 owners being inconsistant now is it).

Lastly how does such a blatantly troll thread remain open on this site from what is a reknowned Sony fan with a vested interest in misinformation, no offence MikeB it's just my opinion on your conduct.

Ratchet and Clank Future:  Tools of Destruction, Little Big Planet, Folklore, and Heavenly Sword also all blow away any similar games on the 360 and The Last Guardian will as well.

In your opinion of course, the only one on that list I'd maybe agree on is Heavenly Sword maybe although I've not played Ninja Gaiden 2 for comparison.  Of course I still think the term "blow away" is hopelessly exagerrated.

       Name two 3d platformers on 360 that are at Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank Future level.  Name one action adventure rpg on the 360 that is at Folklore's level (it received a 9 from PlayMagazine USA and a 9 from IGN), and no game on 360 comes anywhere near being the artistic triumph that The Last Guardian will be.  The most that one can say about the artistic merits of Gears and Alan Wake is that at best they have about as much artistic vision as the  typical Saturday night movie on the American Sci-Fi Channel.

Those are stupid questions to ask, seeing as how the 360 does not possess equivalents to the games you mentioned in it's library as far as exclusives go. However, if we can speak about multiplatform games, I'd say both LBP and Ratchet and Clank got raped artistically by Prince of Persia, but that's just one man's opinion.

Just to clarify, if I were to ask you to find me a real time strategy game on the PS3 that looks as good as Halo Wars, you would be stumped, because there is no such game in existence on the PS3. I mean if you're going to ask the question of finding a suitable alternative graphically, at least use a genre both share heavily in, and not niche sub genres and older genres that don't get many games created for them.

      The fact that there aren't similar games on 360, then further strengthens my statement that those PS3 games blow away similar games on the 360.  I stand by my original statement.

I stopped reading here. And for the sake of all things good, change your name. It has my initials in it.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Ok, let me address the OP

A. Ghostbusters has twice as much resolution on the 360, despite leading on the PS3. That is big, because Sony fans used the "game leads on the PS3" statement to act as if developers cared more about the PS3. Truth is, making a PS3 game would not be plausible if it wasn't the lead platform, because it is so hard to develop for. It is much easier to port UP than DOWN. Yes, ghostbusters looks much better on 360, so do most other multiplats, and they probably always will. Also, Forza 3 looks as good or better than anything on the PS3 so far.

B. People claim that there is not a huge difference between upscaled DVD9s at 1080p and Blu-Rays. This is true on small screen TVs below 42 inches, and you should accept that, at least. Not everyone has perfect eyesite, and not everyone is rocking a 52 inch plasma, so to many, many people, especially those on standard TVs, the different is insignificant. Period. Blu-Ray is NOT anywhere close to the jump from VHS to DVD, and even implying that is ridiculous. It might be 1/10th that significant of an increase, with its major function being increased content on 1 disc, rather than amazing new visuals. Upscaled DVD looks great. Blu-Ray looks better, but not 200 dollars better, unless you have a 42 inch plus TV, a 7.1 surround sound system, and are a big Sony fan.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

@mikeB

I find your sig with Terminal Reality comment to be pretty funny consider how bad Ghostbuster game run on the PS3.

Anyway, the only turmoil I see is the one where Activision is threaten to drop support for PS3 because you know the Cell is so superior ...

Mike B you never change lol. Arnt you the guy that kept saying over and over how the 360 was maxed out graphicly and then E3 rolls around and we get these amazing looking games that really improve on what has been seen on the 360 so far and really hold there own against the best on the ps3 that was shown.

Hes making an ironic post. Its about how, when the PS3 was launched, SONY boys shouted "The Cell! The Cell! It can grant your wishes!"

It certainly didn't grant Terminal Reality's wish, it seems. The fact is and always will be that both the PS3 and 360 are closer in power then people want to think.

Or he could be trolling.

Oh yes not to forget that Crysis 2 is coming out for the 360 which again Im sure will push the 360 graphics even more and again show that the 360 an keep up with the ps3 graphicly and that it doesnt have this huge advantage that some people hoped it would have.
