Forums - Gaming - Castlevania and The Kojima effect

At this point I don't have high hopes for any 3D Castlevania, unfortunately. We'll see what Kojima can do, but, goddamnit, don't put super-long cutscenes into an action game! I want action, not movie-watching or boring JRPG style crap.

Castlevania is the definition of an awesome series in need of a revamp. It was one of the biggest series of the late 80's and early 90's, but as the new millennium began, each game (even the good GBA/DS games) became irrelevant. With Kojima involved, the gameplay will get the attention it deserves, and the story will get the attention it needs! This (along with Nintendo's upcoming Metroid revamp) is one of my biggest E3 highlights!

I am excited for this game. It's more action oriented from what I saw on the trailers.
Kojima=awesome.

I'm guessing there will be a two hour cut scene where Simon discusses with Dracula the nature of war and how it relates to satre's views of nihilism....it will also be awkward as hell, poorly written, and Dracula will repeat his lines every two minutes because he doesn't know how to end a fucking conversation.

Isn't he just supporting the developer or something?

Yes, the developers are Mercury Steam. They are the ones that made Scrapland and Clive Baker's Jericho.

I think Kojima and his team are only supervising the project.

IGA sucks at 3D.  Thankfully, Kojima is great at 3D.  He's just  supervising but that's enough to give me hope.  I think Mercury Steam are the ones that decide how long the cutscene's will be.  I don't think wil have 45-60 minutes ones.  Maybe 10-20 minues at most.

I think Kojima working on the new Castlevania is a gigantic minus. Well, no, not really, but I'm extremely skeptical.

metal gear solid is it's own genre. If you don't like it then gtfo.

Kojima has several other games that aren't like MGS at all, so stop saying kojima sucks just because you don't enjoy a game that caters to the fans and it's integrity.

Apart some fanboys, most of people don't know this Kojima so I don't think it will have an impact on sales.

I agree hope its not like a JRPG style. Until we see a gameplay video then we can't bash it. I just hope this game isnt super hard like other Castlevania games.

surelly no doubt about it, in fact he will rise the quality of the franchise
