Forums - Gaming - Your first gaming experiences

For me my first gaming experience I was about 7 years old. I went with my mother to visit one of my cousins. When I got there two of my cousins were sitting in front of the tv using a gun to shoot things on the screen (duck hunt lol), so I decided to give it a try and I love it. After Duck Hunt we played Super Mario Bros. then I was really hooked.

I had another cousin that owned a NES and they owned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and we always played that all day. Eventually I beg my parents for a NES and one Christmas day I didn't get it :( but instead a SNES :), after that my video game obsession started. I was introduced to the PS1 (a friend owned it, we played Driver constantly) and of course Final Fantasy.

I never ever heard of Final Fantasy when I first bought FFVII (I was still pretty young), the only reason why I bought it was because it had three disc and I thought there was three games inside of it, I never thought it was just one lol (I was such a noob), also it was selling for like 15 bucks so I never hesitated to buy it (sinse I was really young and the most money I ever owned was like 40 bucks). Anyway it was my first RPG so I was really confused and never really knew what the hell was going on, the first time I played through the game I never updated any of my weapons or armor, I had all the original equipment lol, eventally I figured it out the second time playing through. I really liked the story and characters, I wen't days where I would wake up and play FFVII till I went to bed, I was obsessed. Eventually my Final Fantasy collection grew.

Anyway I can keep going on and on but I know nobody wants to keep reading me blabbering on lol so anyway tell me your first gaming experiences!

Edit: Don't forget to add details guys, plain simple answers are no fun :(

Also tell me about your first experience with your favourite genre or series.

Mario on NES

I'm not a fanboy, I just try to tip the balance in favor of logic and common sense.

In a few years some kid will find this thread and talk about the time his parents were playing with a Wii-Mote when he was in his moms stomach.. and the pics to prove it..

Good Times~

I'm pretty sure it was Super Mario Bros. 3. I remember having a Game Genie as well, but I couldn't read so I had to get my dad to put in the codes for infinite lives. I was probably 4-5 years old.

my first gaming experience was when i was 5ish i my mom let me play a game see was playing it was super mario bros i stunk at it but it was fun. at that my parents had the nes, snes, ps1 and n64 up hooked so i was exposed to a lot of games really fast my first game console that i owned was the game cube i got it for Christmas then i got a ps2 for my birthday i had so much fun beating my sister in SSBM and playing gta together

Around 4 years old (1985), I used to hang out at my father's workplace and usurp a pc to play things like Digger, Space Invaders and Breakout lookalikes and whatever else there was.

The Breakout clone was the first game I beat (it was called Bricks or something along the lines) was a real trauma, it only had 4 levels and it took me 2 days to get through the 4th, only to have Congratulations! written on the screen and then be sent back to lvl.1. Don't know what I was expecting, but surely something more satisfying.

Didn't get into consoles until around 1995.

Well when i first played Sonic on Sega genesis, i was only six couldn't really get it.
Then i got a ps2, and it was alright i wasnt into it but i remember Dark Cloud I and 2. The Dark cloud games were the one of the best games. I also loved the simplicity of Ratchet and Clank. Then once o played FF X i was blown away, best ps2 game ever.
Then last year i bought a Xbox 360. I got got one because all of my friends had live and no one had a ps3, starting to think i should have brought a ps3 first.
The first game i played on it was Call of Duty 4, the graphics were amazing then, the most addictive online multiplayer. I then realized 360 was my best gaming experience. Though want to get a ps3 soon.

Something on Atari when i was about 4-5. The first game i have clear memories of playing was Ghostbusters.
