Forums - Sony - Sony Restructuring Saving $3 Billion

@nj5, but it's the only way to get to profitability. This has been long overdue and this is seen as progress to me.

I totally agree with that, and I think the CEO is doing a good job... All I'm saying is let's not get ahead of ourselves and say all the trouble is over (as some people were saying earlier in the thread).

why do some of you still find a way to turn this into a bad thing, seriously?

Good for pointing that out. It happens in almost every Sony thread, I guess people don't like to see Sony improve.

In other words, Good move Sony.

I think it's just as blind to go into this with a "go Sony!" attitude...  They cut a ton of jobs, closed facilities, and sold off or just plain lost a whole tone of assets to pull this off...  Yay for them that they managed to cut so much out of their losses (they're still in the negatives, but by something like half as much), but they still bled personnel and facilities to pull it off.

With the overall lack of profitability in the brand, it's not quite a "break even" (essentially, this is Sony realizing they were spending more to keep these people employed and these facilities running than they were making selling their product), it DOES have a negative impact in that Sony is losing astronomical amounts of money.  That is NEVER a good thing, but their response is what is necesarry, and it's good that they realized it.
