Screw them

So the PS3 was badly designed and expensive SO WHAT.

It maybe third place but its still sold over 20 million units. Activision need to stop thinking about their bottom line and shareholders and instead think of the bigger picture.

Sony will pull out of this tailspin next gen and I hope they punish activision for their insolence.

i don't think the ps3 was poorly designed, i actually think it was too-well designed.. they future proofed it so much to prepare for an extended hardware cycle so their initial cost curve was too high and they can't bring it down their line-width costs down fast enough to offset the price cuts which are happening faster than they anticipated. developers are just starting to really utilize the expensive graphics chips that sne has been paying for, so its not like they can scale back on their specs now. i don't foresee a next gen for a while (sne trying to duplicate lifecycle of ps2), its just a race to get cost curves down faster than the prices..

Except, of course, it is unlikely that Activision-Blizzard would reduce their investments they would just put them towards different platfoms that have higher ROI; which would translate into more profit off of the same investment.

@WereKitten: I don't know, I gave some examples already, but its activision that has all the numbers. They won't do it if they think they will lose money, but I am suspecting they already have ideas and figures for pulling out.

How exactly would this happen.  Activision don't need the PS3 to survive - the financial statements posted earlier showed that they make about as much money from World of Warcraft as form all the consoles combined.

Before you go off flaming me you should know that I also think this is an empty threat and will not happen, but you're wrong if you think it would be a disaster for Activision.

I wouldn't flame you anyways, no intention. I don't believe it will happen either, because Sony is bound to have a pricecut by this year.

No they dont need Sony to survive. But they're a company. and companys love money. And not supporting Sony greatly goes against that. No Ps23P or license for Sony movies would hurt.
