Forums - Microsoft - What Kind of TV? Is anyone making them now? How much do they cost?

Well neXbox will fail if it requires people to upgrade their TVs to the stereoscopic TV. I think majority of people are content with the current TVs. Getting rid of the fat tube tvs and HD is enough to last for years longer than the next gen consoles to be released.

Some people are already getting confused with LCD to LED and OLED XD

That's probably why they have said they're not releasing Nextbox until these tvs become more widespread.  There was a report last week that the 360 would be going on (maybe with some incremental upgrades -- becoming 360+) until 2015 -- maybe when they think at least some models of these new tvs will be in Wal~Marts at affordable prices.

Well i think thats good then.  I dont think a new gen console should come out for awhile.  Minimum the '10yr plan' to allow gamers to get their money's worth and allowing devs to continue to try to maximize the potential.

It may not require you to upgrade your TV. 3D could be a simple option in the game that you turn on or off. Those with a '3D ready' TV could play in 3D mode, and those with a regular TV could play in normal mode.

People here really need to think before they post.

Its got to be fake. The only company that is dumb enough to do this is 2005-2007 Sony.

there's a game that's going to be released this year that needs a 3d tv to be played

They're referring to the new 3D technology that we're seeing in HDTVs and movies.

That's not to say that a new Xbox won't play on any HDTV today, just that Microsoft is wanting to wait till the format standardizes so they can decide what codex and software are needed to support that format.

No worries.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Exactly as mrstickball said.

The "NextBox" will still work with every "non-3D" TV as well. 3D will just be an added bonus for those that have the capabilities to enjoy. Many PC games are getting the 3D treatment so I doubt it is that complicated of a thing to add, especially not on a new system with more power.

They are just waiting until a good couple million have 3D supporting TVs and then their product will have a feature for those and that in turn may help the development of future 3D TV sales.

I don't know about you guys, but the thought of playing FPS games in 3D or even Natal games in 3D sounds amazing! Imaging playing a 3D dodgeball or ricochet game with Natal! That'd be intense!

That will be fantastic. I can't wait. When that happens I will dedicate practically all my free time to play games because it would be such a big step closer to virtual reality and it will be such an amazing experience.

I hope this tech matures fast because I don't want to be too old and tired when it becomes available.

The Elder Scrolls 6 with motion controls and 3-D vision on the Xbox 3.

I'm guessing this is similar to Nvidia's Geforce 3D Vision.  It is available now for PC's and just requires the HD TV to be 120hz.
