My brother bought a Ps3 yesterday for 300 euros at my local MediaMarkt (i got a pic but the plug-in to my mobile is broken somehow). Yes it is an offer that is only for this week but still. I saw several people that were frowning their eyebrows at the offer. Was this for real? - must have been what most of them thought. Well it was real and my brother's PS3 is the proof.

Here comes the strange part. He got a 40 gig. a 40 GIG? they don't even make those things anymore right?

Does anyone have a clue how the retailer can have dozens and dozens of those 40 gigs?

They were having really bad sales of the 40 gigs and had a good couple of them in storage, so they made a very sweet (I'm guessing, I'm in the US with dollars) deal to clear inventory.

The normal price (according to them) for the 40 gig was 385 euro's. So yea...a pretty good deal

I bought my PS3 yesterday for 329€ price. Completely new 80gig sku. Probably though here some shops buy their consoles from UK and then sell them under normal price.

Thanks to euro granting higher margins for both producers and resellers, de facto best price for some 80GB PS3 bundles was already 349€ at some of the biggest resellers, real price falling to 300€, but only at biggest stores could imply a SRP cut from 400€ to ~350€...

Clearing out the 40GB stock. What is the difference between the 80GB and 40GB models? If its just the hard-drive then thats a sweet deal.

If I remember right GPU is shrinked to 65nm in 80gb models.

I think one of them includes a dual shock 2 controller and the other one doesn't.
