Forums - Sony - If Sony's PS-Mote Gets Released...

Unless the PS3 heavily bundles the PS3mote, it's going to have a tiny userbase. At most 25% of all PS3 owners, which will be around 40 million by then, or 10 million PS3motes. In order to port from a Wii to a PS3 you're going to have to basically remake the entire game (redo all the graphics for an 'HD' system)

I don't see companies spending money to upgrade their graphics just so they can sell to an extra 10 million people, maybe.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Yes, but only if the following happen.

1) The PS3mote sells really well, perhaps 2million in the first year or two, not impossible.

2) The existing games for the PS3mote sell decent, maybe around 200-300k, not hard.

3) It is easy to port the games from one console to another, perhaps with slight graphics upgrade, again not difficult

4) Devolpers are quick to learn the ins/outs of the PS3mote rather quickly

I can see this happening if SONY pushes 3rd party developers to do it and i see lots of games doing this. I mean look at Madworld -- that would easily run on PS3, it would be cheap to port over and it would reduce the risk of doing such a game.

Ofcourse the bad side is that you can bet that alot of the minigame collections / shovelware on the Wii will be ported to the PS3...

It is a shame though that most good Wii games are published by Nintendo (or are old games like RE4 or Okami)

Depends of the company can create a good cross-platform engine.

I remember someone bring this up a day or 2 after this was announced.

If Sony starts focusing more on motion controls than quality games then I'll be pissed. I really hope this is a totally optional thing.

I love the Wii but I don't always love using motion controls. Sometimes it's nice to slouch back in my couch and use a regular controller.
