Forums - Microsoft - Official Splinter Cell Conviction Thread

Omg!  Splinter Cell is looking insane ...

P.E.V (Prepare, Execute and Vanish) I think it will give the player more control to play the way they want too in a given situation.

Also like the ( last seen) mechanic or the last known position gameplay..

Excelent thread man!

Splinter Cell: Conviction creative director Maxime Beland wants people to finish his game. Accordingly, it looks like Sam Fisher's latest adventure

will be clocking in at around 12 hours. "I want people to play my games and finish them," Beland recently told Official Xbox Magazine. "We're

going to ship with difficulty levels, at least a normal mode and realistic mode - like we did on Rainbow Six Vegas. And realistic is going to be really

****ing hard - you're going to need stealth, two bullets is going to kill you, the enemies are going to be super-lethal." Normal mode, however,

will be "for normal gamers, that are going to spend 12 hours playing our game and not 30 because they're dying all the time." For those worried

about getting their money's worth, Conviction will of course also feature a robust multiplayer mode. Should be plenty to keep fans busy when it

arrives this October.
Can't provide link, sorry.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

^ good find ShadowBlind. 12 hours, sounds about right. Same length as Half Life 2.

I can't believe that the two absentee Xbox 360 exclusives that were MIA for so long, Alan Wake and SCC are back with such vengeance! They really did make the wait worthwhile here!

I know what you mean. And the crazy thing is both the games you refer to could win GOTY for their respective years.

I'm just glad that this time MS didn't put Alan Wake and SCC close to each other in terms of releases. I'd have to rob someone if they did...

Added this new interview to OP. Under Hands On section:

AGN: Now art-direction. This is one of the most stylish videogames I've ever seen - how did you come up with the concept of projected images and how difficult was it to make that work? Did you come up with something proprietary for it or...

Jean-Francois: Actually, in terms of tech we had to really think about it, but afterwards when the design was set I think the guys really had fun creating those features. But in terms of artistic direction, games today are so nice and Splinter Cell has always been a key title for graphic standards, and you look at the games now and they're so beautiful and of course Splinter Cell will be beautiful too, but we had to think about how we could enhance the experience for the player and go above and beyond, and so for us, the projected movies, the projected text, the transitions we have in the game were all part of the solution for us to set new standards.
