The world when end in 2012 when the great awakening will happen. We will all ascend to a higher level of conciousness and leave our physical bodies.

Come on man, I know you don't really believe that lol... right???

Highway, I thought you knew me well enough to decern when I'm posting rationally, and when I'm posting bullshit.

That would be so cool. Is that prophesied?

The mayan calendar ends, also the I-ching correlates with it. I've read a lot of stuff, it's very interesting...

But,most the stuff I've read doesn't say we leave our physical bodies, only a few said that.

in 4.5 billion years the sun will enter its red giant phase and will grow in size to the point were its in our orbit ether a,b or c will happen

a we will be swallowed by the sun

b the force of gravity will push the mercy Venus earth and mars each others orbits and it would cause collisions between planets

c the force of gravity will eject the earth form the solar system

While you are correct that the sun will enter its red giant phase, neither b nor c will happen because of it.  The problem with both of these is that the gravity the sun exerts on the Earth (or any planet) will not change-- gravity is a function of mass and distance (F= Gm1m2/r2), not size (r is the distance between the two objects centers).  Also, major mistake: Gravity does NOT PUSH, it is a pulling force.  When the sun expands into a red giant the mass stays the same, it is expanding because the energy being released in the core increases significatnly as heavier elements start to fuse together, and this energy caused the sun to expand outward.   In other words, a red giant will not alter the gravity experienced by any of the planets in the solar system, thus Earth's orbit (or any other planets orbit) will not change.

When the sun enters its red giant phase one of two things will happen:

1) The surface of the Earth is devastated by the intense heat and energy of the sun,

2) Earth is engulfed by the sun after the surface is devastated by the intense heat and energy of the sun.

We will all go to hell! (I'm kidding just had to say something regarding hell on my 666th post.)

I'll go with nuclear holocaust, too many nukes in this world just waiting to be fired at someone.

To end the world? You would need a lot of them. Wipe out life yes, easily. But to destroy the entire planet, I can't see that happening I'm afraid.

OT: I think it would be either engulfed by the sun as it ages and the becomes a giant star, or a super collision of some variety.

Well for us technically the world would end, its not like we would be here to see all of the other things being talked about.  Plus there are over 25,000 nukes in the world so it is possible.

however it ends, it will be a pathetic whimpering demise in my eyes

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.
