Video games aren't as good. 80s/90s cartoons were awesome. I'm afraid in a few years i'll even get tired of watching movies. Movies are imo still as good as ever.

What are you smoking? Get off the nostalgia bus and into the future dude. Video games are more real than ever, with better story lines. And movies, well, while they change from generation to generation, each one has some really good movies.

And you're just experiencing a bit of transition difficulty. Gaming was amazing back in the 80s and 90s. Some of the greatest games were flushed out during those decades with some of the greatest developers at the helm. Roberta Williams for example. Gaming isn't the same as it was 20 years ago, but while we lost a few things. We've also gained quite a bit.

On the cartoon font, I agree with you. I can't imagine some of the crap that children watch now-a-days. I saw this bugs bunny thing, but it was in space. And his name wasn't bugs, it was ace. All the looney toon characters were there, but they were darker, more action packed, and not funny. It was terrible. What has happened?

I'm not even from the looney toon generation and I agree with that. Old cartoons are the best, whereas the new ones... Well, they're almost all just terrible. (There are a few exceptions for me; Avatar: The Last Airbender being one that I actually enjoyed).

I think movies are still great as well; there are a ton of great ones made within the past few years.

As for videogames, I agree with Nightstriker; a few things have been lost, but that is made up with all of the new stuff that we see. There are still tons and tons of great games out there, in my opinion.

Generally speaking, books, movies, music and videogames are all (roughly) as bad as they have ever been but an increasing awareness of the medium and tricks of our memories make us think that things used to be better ...

When you're a teenager derivitave crap seems so deep and insightful because you're not aware of the countless other people's work that has been "Ripped off" to create this amazing product. As you get older and you start to see that A was a copy of B which was a copy of C you start to think that C was an amazing product, until you become aware of products D through Z which C copied.

Also, in the old days, you had a little sprite that you had to imagine was a man. Now day's, they tell you what that man looks like, moves like, sounds like, and fights like.

I disagree. 4 of my favourite games ever (Portal, Persona 3 and 4 and Shadow of the Colossus) are 4 years old or less. Gaming is not getting any worse. There were amazing games in the 90s, there are amazing games now. Same with bad games.

For me, it's like anything where you fill in the blanks. When moving pictures first came out, there were no actors, directors, or anything really, so the first thing they showed to demonstrate this technology was the ocean.

Remember, this was before silent films. You had a guy cranking a box with crappy still frames one after the other. There was no sound, and the timing was only as good as the guy running it.

When people would go see it, the first few rows thought they were going to get wet. It was that real to them. As movie technology advances, the ability suspend reality and place yourself in the moment goes away.

No one sees an explosion in the movies today and thinks they are in danger. Same with video games. Very few make you feel like your on an adventure, and feel more like your just controlling some guy on a screen.
