Forums - Gaming - Kojima will be 'deeply' involved with Metal Gear Solid: Rising

They're 360 fans. They weren't able to without the access of a Ps3

If by they're, you're including me, I think that you better get your facts straight. I own a PS3 (Actually, I've had it 9 months longer than my 360). I've played through MGS4 (and the rest of the series) multiple times. As of now, I'm getting MGSR on PS3 rather than 360. I'm a Metal Gear fan. The only reason why I insert myself into these idiotic arguments is because I can't stand the fact that MGS:R is being downplayed by so many people on these boards (i won't say why I think it's happening because it'll just stir the pot even more). Let me just say that when people are ignoring what Hideo Kojima himself has stated, you know that something is off.

Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss. They have the same genes and cells, but they are different people who live different lives and have different experiences. Saying that MGS3 is not a spinoff because Big Boss is Solid Snake while saying that MGSR is a spinoff because Snake is not present (which, though likely, isn't even confirmed) doesn't make sense to me. Big Boss is the original, while Solid Snake is the clone. Big Boss was born naturally, while Solid Snake was born genetically, and lacks reproduction capabilities. They are not the same person. That would mean that MGS3 added to the story of the metal Gear saga without the direct involvement of Solid Snake, just like MGS:R likely will.

Also, I really thought you were better than denying my offer to agree to disagree, and then going on to say that I don't know what I'm talking about with regards to what a spin-off is. Seems a bit childish if you ask me. Hopefully people who are reading this will at least respect my opinion, even if they don't happen to agree with it.

...and I'm done here.

Nope. Hes not leading the project. Its not Sony Exclusive. Its being led by C team. Also Raiden is not a bad ass anymore he is the same fruit from MGS2 automatically because of above statements.
PW is quality R is shit.
/sarcasm.

Only reason Im more excited for PW right now is because we havent seen anything for R. That said anyone who thought Kojima wouldn't touch this project is an idiot.

Cactus - I was talking about xbot and the one who highlighted my name red

Soriku - Yeah Kojima is a busy man. I bet right now MGSPW is getting the most of his attention with MGSR and castlevania fighting between the rest. I wouldn't doubt that after the completion of MGSPW hed be more involved.

Good to know, Can't wait to buy it and put it in my PlayStation 3!

Well to be fair guys MGS:PW and Castlevania are both slated for 2010. I don't think Kojima will have enough time to be as deeply involved as many would like. That said the game will still be awesome so.

PS3 Fans: Stop your bitching your making me look bad. The Game is going to be looked over by The Man himself HK
360 Fans: Stop trolling and baiting PS3 fans, While it may seem like a spin it's pretty obvious that this is a spin-off and wont likely get as much polish and attention that MGS4 got.

Everyone just shut your mouths and pre-order the game.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

The problem with calling this game a spin off is that the series as a whole has already featured three different main characters and has taken place over the course of 40 some odd years. Secondly, what's also holding this back from possibly being a spin off is that Raiden has already headlined a numbered Metal Gear Solid title that primarily featured his story with him as the most important character involved, with Snake taking a back seat. Thirdly, we just don't know anything about this game yet to make any judgements on it. Frankly, I think the series itself has become so large and detached from a single storyline to really call this a spin off. Metal Gear Acid is a spin off. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was severely different than a typical MGS title and yet I consider it a part of the regular series, no spin off title needed. MGS doesn't play anything like MGS4 and yet both are part of the same series are they not? I figure as long as the story resides around the crux of the story, which is the Metal Gears, and it's intertwined gameplaywise and storyline wise into the previous entries, then it should be considered a part of the series.

Somebody actually shares the same opinion as me in this topic! Hallelujah!

And that KZ2 arguement is also bullshit. We knew a lot more about that game then we do know about MGSR.

But even before people knew anything about KZ2 it was already hyped to hell and back, or have you forgotten E3 2005?  If this were PS3 exclusive it would be hyped as well, but butthurt PS3 fanboys who claimed that the 360 would never see a Metal Gear game are now downplaying it because for some reason they are offended that other people will be able to play the same games as them.

Really, it all reminds me of the Final Fantasy 13 announcement, and the guy who was calling for SE to commit "public sudoku."  That's what the fanboy sour grapes are starting to sound like.

You really don't know what you are talking about. There are people out there that do like Kojimas directing style. And do like Snake as the main character. and do like the gameplay as it is. There are many reasons to be wary about the game right now. It all doesn't need to be because we are butthurt. Thats just you trying to upplay the game and discredit people.

LOL that guy was a complete joke I think you need to rewatch that youtube.

Oxymeth - You aren't saying it's not a spin off though. You're just saying why it might not be one. Yeah, there were 3 main characters. But they were all the same story line. (I can't believe I'm going to repeat this one again) THE SNAKE SAGA! Naked Snake/Big Boss was a main character who solid snake is a clone of... So the main characters are already similar and influenced the story and intertwined and then the one where Raiden was a main character the Bad Guy was still the Snake Saga because he was another Snake clone. So I'll say it again... if MGSR doesn't continue the Snake saga then its a spin off.

So even though Raiden has previously played the main character in an MGS game, for some magical reason this game is a spin off? lol I love fanboys trying to reason, it's almost as entertaining as watching cartman try to fly :)
