If by they're, you're including me, I think that you better get your facts straight. I own a PS3 (Actually, I've had it 9 months longer than my 360). I've played through MGS4 (and the rest of the series) multiple times. As of now, I'm getting MGSR on PS3 rather than 360. I'm a Metal Gear fan. The only reason why I insert myself into these idiotic arguments is because I can't stand the fact that MGS:R is being downplayed by so many people on these boards (i won't say why I think it's happening because it'll just stir the pot even more). Let me just say that when people are ignoring what Hideo Kojima himself has stated, you know that something is off.
Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss. They have the same genes and cells, but they are different people who live different lives and have different experiences. Saying that MGS3 is not a spinoff because Big Boss is Solid Snake while saying that MGSR is a spinoff because Snake is not present (which, though likely, isn't even confirmed) doesn't make sense to me. Big Boss is the original, while Solid Snake is the clone. Big Boss was born naturally, while Solid Snake was born genetically, and lacks reproduction capabilities. They are not the same person. That would mean that MGS3 added to the story of the metal Gear saga without the direct involvement of Solid Snake, just like MGS:R likely will.
Also, I really thought you were better than denying my offer to agree to disagree, and then going on to say that I don't know what I'm talking about with regards to what a spin-off is. Seems a bit childish if you ask me. Hopefully people who are reading this will at least respect my opinion, even if they don't happen to agree with it.
...and I'm done here.
