| Onyxmeth said: The problem with calling this game a spin off is that the series as a whole has already featured three different main characters and has taken place over the course of 40 some odd years. Secondly, what's also holding this back from possibly being a spin off is that Raiden has already headlined a numbered Metal Gear Solid title that primarily featured his story with him as the most important character involved, with Snake taking a back seat. Thirdly, we just don't know anything about this game yet to make any judgements on it. Frankly, I think the series itself has become so large and detached from a single storyline to really call this a spin off. Metal Gear Acid is a spin off. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was severely different than a typical MGS title and yet I consider it a part of the regular series, no spin off title needed. MGS doesn't play anything like MGS4 and yet both are part of the same series are they not? I figure as long as the story resides around the crux of the story, which is the Metal Gears, and it's intertwined gameplaywise and storyline wise into the previous entries, then it should be considered a part of the series. |
