Forums - Gaming - Netflix on HD consoles

OK, so I played all weekend with Netflix on my 360 - watched like 7-8 titles this weekend, and had heard from PS3 types that Netflix wasn't a big deal because you can access it via the PS3 browser. Tried it and it failed. I would love to do a side-by-side comparison and see which is better overall.

How can you watch Netflix on your PS3 without having to install another OS? Plus - how can you update the PS3 browser? Is it possible to install Firefox on a PS3?

you can't, and anyone who thinks you can doesn't know what they are talking about. Honestly, it would be nice if they got it working for PS3, but I'm fine with just using my PC hooked up to my TV.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Morning, Norlead. I also tried hulu.com on my PS3 with no real success. Tried it 3 times, and got frustrated and hooked up my laptop.

The LIVE/Netflix service rocks. One hiccuff - my bandwidth speed changed and the movie paused for 45 seconds - but that's it.

I may try it with my laptop, but it's essentially the same movie with the hassle of hooking my laptop up to my TV.

I'm pretty sure you can't or at least can't do it without some complicated work arounds.

Usually the ones telling you that it can, just like the ones that tell you that you can do anything on the PS3 because it has a browser, are just the ones just doing damage control.

That happens to me every now and then and not sure why.  I have Verizon FiOS so I have a *really* fast connection, just sometimes I guess it decides it wants to slow down for a few minutes (and it has done the same thing on my PC before).
