No offense, but gamespot is a horrible gaming-site where they always give western-made games most hype and credit.

Is it because the western games are usually the best

That's your own opinion. Tell me, what was the last WRPG you've played? I can tell you the last JRPG I've played. Star Ocean 4. I didn't care for it too much, it represented the downward spiral that many have seen JRPG's taking lately. WRPG's have been making huge leaps and bounds over the last 2 generations, with games like KOTOR, Oblivion, and Mass Effect taking giant strides in the Adventuring, Characters, and Enviroments behind these games. They truly have no limit as well, if StarWars: The Old Republic has anything to say about it. (I consider it more of a WRPG than a MMO after reading the preview)

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

I am sorry, but with Alpha Protocol, Dragon Age: Origins, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, and Mass Effect 2 coming out....the eastern titles just cannot match them.

Seeing as Mass Effect doesn't have the quality of the Final Fantasy franchise...JRPG > WRPG

Mass Effect 1 was meh, it got pretty boring. Mass Effect 2 on the other hand...**drools**

can't wait for Track Season 2009/2010, guna beast out!

Travis Touchdown ERECTION CONFIRMED!

Not anymore. WRPG's today are more storydriven than in the past with games like Elder Scrolls. Champions of Norrath and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance sure as hell weren't soulless. Mass Effect, Deus Ex, KOTOR I &II, Fallout III, Fable I & II aren't soulless either.

What quality does the Final Fantasy series have that even embodies an RPG?.....I mean seriously.
