theres always a chance but a very slim one it will have to be better than FFVII and FFX which seems unlikely. and even though they had 4 years on this dosent matter either(FFXII took like 6 years and it was crap). However i still think its going to be agreat game regardless

Considering SE's track record in the last 10 years, incredibly slim.

I'm guessing it will be really high in the huge flashy cut scenes and pretty graphics and probably even have decent to good gameplay but it will fail miserably in the parts that really matter: story, characters, and music.

Can't comment on the story or characters, but the music so far seems pretty decent - even though the only tune I can think of off the top of my head is the battle theme.

That speaks for a lot of games. Also, do things like story and music matter more than gameplay now? People seem to be really out of touch with JRPGs or something.

The start of any great JRPG is great characters. This is especially true of Final Fantasy. Cloud was annoying as hell. How is it silly to not like a game as much because it has bad characters?

Yeah, but it's not the only thing. You may think Cloud is annoying, but not every one does. He definitely could have been a better character, but other characters in the cast made up for that. And the start of any great JRPG is great gameplay. In fact, it's the same for any game. And while Lightning might not be that great of a character (at least going by what you say), the rest of the cast could be excellent.

P.S. Why was Khuutra banned?

Er... I never said anything about anyone else. See highlighted section in red.

Most JRPGs don't have great gameplay. There are a couple exceptions like Pokemon, but the general FF turn-based gameplay is very simplistic and lacks strategy... Unless you are talking about FFXII in which case it's complex but once you figure out what you are doing you can beat the game without picking up the controller in combat.
