Microsoft is buying developers of the ps3. Some are even speculating that microsoft told EA to make better games on the xbox 360, and not good games on the ps3.

They are not playing fair. Sony did not buy developers of the dreamcast. Why cant it be nintendo vs sony all the time. They have the best things to offer.

"Amid numerous rumors and reports, EGM has confirmed that Microsoft has indeed been paying off large developers to not take there titles to the Playstation 3. Reportedly, Microsoft dropped huge dollars over to 2K to keep Bioshock from hitting Sony's hands.

This amongst reports of the same actions taken on games like Stranglehold, Assassin's Creed and many others having their release dates pushed for the PS3 release not because of development issues, but because Microsoft has paid to have it that way. Not to mention GTA IV. Why has Microsoft gone through such great lengths to keep big titles out of Sony's hands? Only Microsoft themselves no the answer, but speculation is simple. The 360 has reached its full potential on current releases. Bioshock for example is based on the Unreal Engine, a code source that is known for using multiple GPU's and strong processing power. The 360 runs the game beautifully, but based on the hardware, it can definately do better. The Playstation 3 happens to have a stronger hardware base and it is rumored that running similar code, the PS3 version would be noticeably higher quality.

With the recent confirmation that MS has paid off numerous companies to keep their games off the PS3 for months or even forever, one might ask themselves if EA has received a similar offer to provide lesser quality games on the PS3 for those titles that have simultaneous or even delayed releases (Madden 08 anyone?).

With both power houses on the market in full force, it will be interesting to see where it will lead us. Let us hope that no matter how it pans out, that gamers will be the ones who win. Bring it."

oh dear god. They all bloody do it. This pathetic oh dear sony attitude is getting old.

EA are in Microsoft's back pocket, we all know that. Look at the quality of games EA are sending the Wii? Madden Wii is a complete suckfest.

Japan devs are not so keen on doing that though, Konami, Level 5, Atlus and S-E etc... are not going to drop PS3 quality simply because of Microsoft. Konami with PES08 is a perfect example, PS3 bundle, whored it out on the PS3 and not the 360 at Leipsig etc...

US developers are in MS back pocket, not only because of money hats but because Sony are much more focused on just buying devs outside Japan and making them 1st party. Heavenly Sword was going to be a 360/PS3 title until Sony put a stop to it, UT3 was going to get a release date on all platforms at the same time until Sony put a stop to it. Do you think Ubisoft are putting Haze on the PS3 exclusive for 6mths for free? Not likely.

Whether we accept it or not but Sony's future, like Microsoft's, depends on their 1st party games. Nintendo have shown the way but neither Sony nor Microsoft can survive long term by constantly throwing money at 3rd parties. In fact, it shows a complete lack of faith in ones console to pay devs to lessen the quality of another console games but that is just the way things are. If Sony were smart, they would go like Nintendo and ignore the crap out of Microsoft and just concentrate on 1st party games. Let Microsoft bitter and argue with themselves but you will never see Nintendo paying out large sums of money for games and they don't need to and they are absolutely killing Microsoft and Sony without 3rd parties.

You wait until Mario Galaxy hits, nothing Microsoft does will change the fact that it will sell over 10million copies in it's lifetime.

Microsoft is using the same strategy Sony used during the PS1 and PS2 eras. Its too late to cry foul now. Tomb Raider 2 was finished on Saturn, Sony paided Eidos not to release it. Why do you think everyone laughed when Jack Tretton said Sony doesn't buy exclusives. They have been doing so for over decade, now that a company with more money than them is doing its unfair? Please Leo-J, stop with the hypocracy.

Unfair or no, I wish they'd left Bioshock alone....I heard about that game when it was announced and was going to be either PS3 or PS3/360, and I wanted to play it.
