Forums - Gaming - Greatest Aventure Game of all time revealed! By Megaman.2.

I really hesitate to call SOTC an 'adventure' although I suspose on the surface it fits that template. It is one of the best games ever made IMHO however, so I guess what label is applied hardly matters.

From my understanding, Shadow of the Colossus is a action adventure game. Therefor, it already cannot compete with some of the glorious adventure games that are far superior. Escape from Monkey Island, Space quest. And most importantly.

King's Quest 5

Now that game is the greatest adventure game of all time.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

impossible. Pikmin is still exist. It should be held #1. I don't respect your opinoin

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

Too bad this will be forgotten in 10 yrs.

Yeah, I'm going to bet that isn't how this story turns out.

Anyway.

Shadow of the Colossus is certainly in the running for the title, if nothing else. That's a given, though, as it's also in the running for "greatest game ever made"

@Nightstriker: Out of 4 possible Monkey Island games, you chose Escape from Monkey Island. I'm curious: Is it the only MI game you played or the one you liked the most?

On topic: Like all fans of old-school p&c adventures (which were just called adventures back in the day), I too think SotC is an action adventure - just like Zelda - but anyway: SotC seems to be a great game. I've never played it (I will someday), but after I saw some gameplay videos I imported Ko Otani's great soundtrack.

Seriously? You'd put KQ5 over any MI??? I mean, KQ5 is good and all,  but it's severely broken, every thing you make you have a 90% chance of putting the game in an unwinnable state and not realizing it till 10 hours later

I'd actually have to plump for Grim Fandango as the best adventure game ever (as I think of the genre).  But KQ, Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle were all superb too,

As an experience, and on its own terms, I would critically (or perhaps artistically is more accurate) lauda SOTC more than those titles (well, Grim excepted perhaps).

Yea, it was a nice game... there just wasn't enough to it. still, a nice effort :)
