fuck, I don't want a new console generation to begin, I want at least another 3 years...fuck I hate this apple mentality, making and releasing the same products with minor improvments yeah in year out....it works for music devices but not console and Microsoft seems to like it...god I hope this is fake.

Well, as I said, the MS motion controls made sense for their next system. That said, if MS doesn't fully change out their hardware, they'll be the new recipients of "2 360s duct taped together", "LOL 360 1.5" and all that ridicule that the Wii got. I'm sure MS wants to avoid that negative publicity. 2010/2011 seems about right though, as it will be 5-6 years down the road, so it makes sense to start moving on. Personally, I don't see/feel a need for it. The 360 is doing fine. Ah, corporate greed at its finest - they insist on being #1, even if it pisses off their userbase.

On a side note, a 360 1.5 could be dubbed the 540, 1 and a half circles

Impossible. So laughable specs. You're just giving this unknown blog hits.

Why are they laughable? It's basically similar to the GC->Wii transition.

Not that I trust the report...

After 5 years MS releases a console with an even smaller HW upgrade than GC-Wii?

RAM only 1024MB. 512MB was already so damn small. RAM is cheap now compared with the time when X360 was designed (and launched). They wouldnt just double such an important thing.

GPU only 600Mhz clockrate? By late 2010 even the slowest budget GPUs from AMD will have a lot higher clockrates.

They want to "cut cost" but include a costly SSD drive? Crazy talk.

CPU running just as fast, but having twice as many cores.. how convenient lol. Sounds like an amateur made that up.

RAM: I agree this is the part which looks weirdest, but 1024 MB is a lot for a game with a minimal OS running.

GPU: Shader 5 GPUs will have lots of stream processors, so clock rate doesn't matter that much. With a lower clockrate you can keep heat down.

SSD drive: Read this (from 2008):

CPU: The GHz race is more or less over, you know... Are the PowerPC CPUs increasing the clock rate recently? 6 cores keeps it near to what PCs will have at the time.

So again, I'm not saying this is real but the specs don't look that bad except perhaps the RAM.

Would be sweet if they really would release it 2010. Damn. ;P

Checks the date. Very late with the April Fools Day article.

Yes, the GHz race sure is over, but clockrates still go up.

Honestly I havent checked if PowerPC clock rates have gone up, but I assume they have since AMD's and Intel's have incresed from rufly ~1.8 Ghz late 2005 to ~2.8 Ghz today (just an example). Same with GPU's, and especially ATI GPU's use higher clockrates than Nvidia.

You just can't avoid to go up in clock rate in 5 years. That thing alone debunks this article.

I have to read about that SSD drive price thing u linked though.

EDIT: nothing new in that article about SSD prices. SSD drives will be fairly big in enthusiast PC's by late 2010, but still uncommon on the mass market. It would be ridiculous of MS to waste an extra $50 on a fast HD for a console but actually shrink the size.

uh, I think it's fake since it said the new CPU would be on equal footing in FLOPS vs a Cell, that's not how PPC cores are designed, it's full of shit.

2010

wont happen
