Forums - Microsoft - Rumor: Xbox Natal is Actually Microsoft's Next Console

Sam Kennedy: "Earlier this week gaming blog Kotaku quoted Microsoft's Shane Kim as saying that the launch of Natal, Microsoft's new controller-free motion control technology, would be as big as the launch of a console. Not surprising. That's because Natal is going to be a new console."

i just think that they might re-launch the xbox 360 in a slim version bundle with Natal
but i doubt is a whole new console

nope they expressly said in their conference that it would be compatible with EVERY xbox 360 sold

Long Live SHIO!

I don't think they'll "rebrand", they'll just make a new 360 Slim with the Natal launch.

Nintendo had to rebrand because GameCube had was marketing flop, it had very little mind share compared to the Playstation and XBox brands.

Nope.........MS would make a lot more money charging for it as an addition to the 360, vice a new console. Plan on it being an overpriced addition.

a 360 slim, im interested. add natal, interest level rises. price cut would be great too.

a price cut??? 360 is already cheap

my guess would be $250 or $300 slim with natal

Not a bad theory really.

~triple the 360's power would add minimal cost in a year or so. Could still be 45nm processes if built based on same architecture, thus allowing a slim model and full backwards compatibility similar to Wii/GC.

They could launch MS Natal (keep name for neXtBox) with wireless 360 type controller and finalized form of Natal in a more slim sleek case.

Probably launch profitable at about $250-$300 w/ sizeable HDD or copy Nintendo one step further and do a sizeable flash memory (20GB) w/ ability to take any size SD card to increase.

Not a bad plan overall. Would beat Sony and Nintendo to next gen again.

I hope it's true. Any company not following Apple and Nintendo hardware policy would be realy stupid.

This is what Nintendo has done with DS during the past 5 years and they did the same with Cube to Wii. Apple iPhone/iPod incremental upgrade (and all the Apple fans eat them all up, so apparently people will buy these incremental upgrade). Sony is already following the patch with PSP Go (but I think they overdo it on the price point).

I want a stable hardware no more RROD bull-craps, more rams, and a quiet system. I don't see MS put in a blu-ray disc and split the user based but I see a bigger HD being available. (Or course at insane price to subsidized thier console).

I would upgrade next year if this is true.

I don't think so.  Add-on are usually a bad move and if they want full fledge support it will have to be a "new" system.  As someone said a newer hardware , slimmer? and hopefully less noisy 360 with bigger drive and motion control.

If MS really want to go after the 60% group that don't have video game system in their home then they need to do a full relaunch.
