Forums - Microsoft - 1UP: Xbox Natal is Microsoft's next console

Natal looks so boring and the gods weep. A quarter of gambling then put on the shelf and collect dust.

Bullshit rumor. It won't have upgraded core hardware like CPU or GPU other than for Natal functions possibly.

No way are MS so stupid that they will have upgraded versions of X360 games.

So if any new games such as Halo/Gears etc. were to use that 'added muscle', all current 360 owners need to buy the new Xbox? Is this the new console Epic Games were talking about going to develop the news Gears on the Next Xbox?

There could very well be 2 versions of the game.

it would make more sense to just release a patch.

True but then not everybody's hooked up to the net.

Perhaps a re-release of older games( is that what you meant?)? Anyway, if a person has a memory card, they can hit up any major retailer for updates. To release two copies of new games would not be a good idea, they will have support for both the origional controller and Natal built into new games that can run with natal.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

"It's actually not that unlike what Nintendo did with the Wii, where it essentially took the GameCube hardware, stuck in motion controls, and successfully relaunched it."

It's actually two Gamecubes taped together with the motion control... MS would need to tape 2 360s togther with Natal then relaunch it with a new name. /sarcasm

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

im no tech expert but is the 'added muscle' somewhat of a change in hardware feature? how do u patch that?

what seece said bout 2 versions makes more sense like how Nintendo released Zelda for GC and Wii

Nope! hey, I'm the same guy who posted something that was one and a half years old, and an April fools joke, before I noticed the date.

The article makes no sense as Microsoft has continually stressed that existing Xbox 360 owners will be able to buy a Natal add-on and play any future Natal games.

What would be the point of a hardware upgrade to the 360 for a device that is being directed at an audience similar to the Wiis?

Microsoft tries to reduce costs by removing the HD cable and we're supposed to believe that they'll include extra horsepower that almost nobody will even notice or take advantage of?

I didn`t want to make a new thread.

I just see now same x360 hardware bundled with Natal for 299$ by the end of 2010 as a new xbox 3.

Wii proved, that graphics are not that important for casuals. That`s why Microsoft don`t need to upgrade a hardware. Just make new controls.

There will be some hardcore games for main x360 controls, but since 2011 i expect more and more games for x360 oriented on Natal controls.

What's everyone bitching about? Playstation 1 came out in Dec 1994, Playstation 2 came out in March 1999, and Playstation 3 came out November 2006. That means that in 12 years, PS has come out with 3 consoles, 5 year span, and then a 7 year span. Xbox came out in November 2001, Xbox 360 came out in November 2005. IF a new xbox comes out, it sure sounds as tho it will be more along the lines of some slight hardware differences, like PSX to PSone, or PS2 to PS2 slim, or PS3 to PS3slim or Nintendo's DS to DSi. Really it's just a few extra things that certaintly will not upset this gamer. In fact, I am stoked that they are looking for ways of making the console itself that much better. I don't think twice about upgrading a PC every 3-4 years, so an upgraded xbox with the same library I already own sounds pretty splifferiffic to me. Really it just seems stupid to hate on a product upgrade in a society where a new iPod comes out every year, new TV's come out every month, and new cell phones are old before you even buy them... it's the times we live in stupid!
