Instructions for turning wiimote into traditional pad:

Step 1.
Rotate Wiimote 90 degrees counter-clockwise.

Congratulations, you now have the traditional pad.

You want analog stick? Add nunchuk.
You want 2 analog sticks? Why? You have IR which is vastly superior.

Nintendo's the only one who's got it right. How are you supposed to use Natal with a traditional pad when both your hands are stuck together?

I think what Nintendo did was think about the use of their controller for ALL games and was smart enough to patent the way it works! BRILLIANT!!! I think Sony has the right idea, and I'm suspecting that Microsoft is going to use both a old gen controller and Natal to acomplish working with all games.

...What I want to know is how will company that previously budgeted for HD graphics handle budgeting now for motional controls. I'm thinking something is going to have to take a hit. Probably what will happen is the games will be motion control or tradtional control not both, OR the grphics department could take a hit as well...who knows.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

the speaker on the wiimote is great, i just tried out tiger pga 10 and everytime you hit the ball, the sound corresponds to what club you are using and how hard you are hitting with a little rumble or sometimes even makes you feel the heart beat with rumble with the little heart beat sound all coming out from that speaker in the remote, it's fucking brilliant.

I'm sorry, I just don't buy all this "the controller is dead" stuff. It'd be one thing if Wii was absolutely destroying the HD consoles in software sales, but outside of a few gimmicky titles and the predictably huge Mario Kart, that just isn't the case.

For another, I personally know many Wii owners who hate the Wiimote, myself included. I've never regretted buying a Wii, because most of the games I bought the system for have allowed me to play with a gamecube controller, but I abhor motion controls, and if all three next gen systems are centered around motion control then I guess my 20 plus years of buying consoles has come to an end.

The way I feel about it is that if I have to stand up and swing my arms around to play, for instance, a tennis game, why would I not go play tennis? Like I said, I know many people outside the internet who feel the same way I do, and most of them own Wiis.

It's clear that motion controls aren't going anywhere, but if all three consoles go to a motion control only format, they are going to alienate millions of consumers. There is always going to be a segment of the market that is not interested in motion controllers, and a segment of the market that is only interested in motion controllers. For the foreseeable future, at least, I see the former buying a lot more games overall than the latter, so I'm not overly worried about the traditional controller dying any time soon.

tennis is one thing, you can hit that against the wall, but golf is completely another, that thing costs a lot of money and some older people with bad backs can't swing the golf club anymore and the new tiger is really awesome on that front with WM+ ^^b.

Well I wouldn't play golf in real life, on a video game, or in my dreams, so I guess I'm immune to Tiger's siren song :P

I don't play golf either, one of my uncles does and he's got a bad back so I figured I'd give it a spin and maybe recommend him a Wii because he loves golf and can't really play anymore, also I'm always willing to try something new, =) and it kicks pretty bad ass, no wonder it's getting 9s all over. they even have 3 different ways to play for novice, amature, and advanced golfers o_O;

I think this idea is a good one. I mean, the Wii remote and nunchuk can be used as a traditional controller (i do it with Brawl, to great effect). Their idea takes it a step further: to make it totally modular. This way motion controls can be totally standard, without alienation.

I like Barcciverse's idea, though. The slow introduction of it as something to test the waters. The problem is, due to the nature of HD development, especially given its "safe bet" tendencies, that many of the 3rd party developers, and internal studios, will reject it entirely.

Nintendo succeeded in bringing some measure of acceptance for the controls by cramming it down everyone's throat, at great risk.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Way too complicated, it would be a massive flop

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
