I'm sorry, I just don't buy all this "the controller is dead" stuff. It'd be one thing if Wii was absolutely destroying the HD consoles in software sales, but outside of a few gimmicky titles and the predictably huge Mario Kart, that just isn't the case.
For another, I personally know many Wii owners who hate the Wiimote, myself included. I've never regretted buying a Wii, because most of the games I bought the system for have allowed me to play with a gamecube controller, but I abhor motion controls, and if all three next gen systems are centered around motion control then I guess my 20 plus years of buying consoles has come to an end.
The way I feel about it is that if I have to stand up and swing my arms around to play, for instance, a tennis game, why would I not go play tennis? Like I said, I know many people outside the internet who feel the same way I do, and most of them own Wiis.
It's clear that motion controls aren't going anywhere, but if all three consoles go to a motion control only format, they are going to alienate millions of consumers. There is always going to be a segment of the market that is not interested in motion controllers, and a segment of the market that is only interested in motion controllers. For the foreseeable future, at least, I see the former buying a lot more games overall than the latter, so I'm not overly worried about the traditional controller dying any time soon.
