Forums - General - Superman is the best. Deal with it.

Yeah... let's face it. Superman's old. He was popular sure, in the 50's and 60's. Sure. But let's face it, the thing about pop culture is it's just a series of fads. And all fads die.

Yeah he sure is a fad and dead.  OH WAIT HIS COMIC AND HIS APPERANCE ON TV IS STILL GOING HOLY SHIT! FAD NOT CONFIRMED.

Unlike the Final fantasy series.  Haven't being as popular as seven since all this time now....even Japan prefers dragonquest more.

One of my favorite batman moments was when he point blank told supes that he, superman, no longer inspires people

Actually, kryptonite isn't Superman's only weakness.

His uncompromisingly upright morality often constitutes a tragic flaw which comes back to haunt him when he's faced with a foe too powerful for him to imprison. He's forced to either let the enemy go, knowing that the villain will kill again and Superman will bear some culpability, or kill the foe, suffering crippling remorse which inevitably impairs his super duties.

In comparison, Batman is gifted with a ruthlessness and moral flexibility which allows him to make the hard decision and sacrifice his own morality for the greater good. Which is why Batman has a plan to kill Superman if he should ever have to, while Superman would find the very idea of a plan to deal with rogue superheroes abhorrent.

Superman is immortal so he wins.

Actually no Superman isn't immortal, eventually the sun will go red, sapping his powers and killing him just like every other being on the planet.

Also surprisingly ringo, Superman has killed many more times than Batman, whose only used lethal force once, on Darksied with the god killing bullet

I remember that!  It was from Infinite Crisis.  Batman said "The last time you inspired somebody was when you were dead".  Then Wonder Woman said "Oooooh.....Snap!"  Superman definitely lost that battle!

I'm more of a Batman guy, but I think Superman could be interesting, but it seems almost no-one has a feel for how to construct anything dramatic around the character. Singer was obviously out of his depth trying to match developing the character with any consistency and fell prey to the old 'must have kryptonite' nonsense.

Still, the original Reeve movie remains a blast, and his take on the character was fantastic IMHO.

But Batman just lends himself so easily to surprising depths of narrative and themse, as Nolan has really shown (along with the best novels like Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Hey, Dinomax! Why don't you dig up the episode of Batman/Superman Adventures where Bruce Wayne takes Lois from Superman and has (implied) sex with her? That'll REALLY show how awesome Superman is!

If the general reaction to VGChartz members towards superman is any indication. I'll say he's far from the best. We're pretty dang vicious.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Superman killed a prostitute for making a joke about him being faster than a speeding bullet.
