You're probably right, 360 may sell more this holiday season based on its price alone because I just don't see Sony dropping the price of its console a $100 just to please people who dont know how to save $20 a week for 5 weeks. Sony doesn't care how much the 360 sells though, they care how much their console sells. Those who are buying a 360 this holiday season are going to missing out on some amazing titles coming within the next 6 months, including the first photo-realistic Gran Turismo ;)

It's amazing what a $100 price cut will do, changes the whole complexion of the console. A slim PS3 would drop the price of the console due to less parts and then we would get the case of:

$300 console + Uncharted 2 + FFXIII in Japan + GT5 = very nice sales

That would be a very strong lineup this holiday if GT5 makes it and coupled with a pricedrop, it would do wonders for the PS3.

well, maybe it won't be shown on the Leipzig Games Convention, but on the Cologne gamescom which starts this year

the industry decided it needed a bigger convention center(in a biggger city with better infrastructure), so they wanted to move the Games Convention, but Leipzig/the Leipziger Messe refused to give the name free, so the industry made this new convention, which likely will takeover, although this year Leipzig and the Leipziger Messe is still holding the Games Convention during the same time the gamescom will take place

Just watched another interview and again he said the game is at a point where it could release. He did say however there is always something which could be improved and they will do so however it really does seem like he is now waiting for a date Sony has given him.

I will be very shocked if this is NOT a 2009 title the way things are going, my guess is that Sony said "December 1st 2009" and he is going by that date. Getting so excited here. :D Also OPM Australia will have a preview on the game as well however not sure if that one will be a cover story like OPM UK and France.

It's all coming together quickly meaning the embargo for the game seems to be coming to an end.

if Sony had a release date why wouldn't they announce it at E3 you know the biggest gaming event in the world !!

I see several reasons why...

1) The game might not release in NA in 09, but in EU or/and JPN, so announcing it at the E3 would be quite frankly a slap in the face.

2) Perhaps they try to make it a 09 title, but still aren't certain they manage to, so they rather announce it at a later event, when they see clearer whether or not they can/will pull it off.

3) As NA isn't GTs biggest region they might think it has a bigger impact if announced at one of the other big conventions that take place in other regions.

4) The E3 is very crowded with big announcements, so they might fear it could be "overlooked" (no GT certainly never will be overlooked, but it might end up not being THE main topic of the show), but at the other events they are very certain to "steal the show" with that announcement.

Or 5 the most logical to me.

E3 was being used to promote and focus on the PSP while a later event will later be used to promote and focus on PS3.
