Forums - Gaming - Wii, Sony, and MS Statistics

Flawed analysis. Firstly SOE are Sony Online Entertainment, I think you mean SCE, Sony Computer Entertainment

Secondly, out of those 9 games made by Sony, 5 of those are actually made by 2nd parties, 3 by Insomniac, 1 by Ninja Theory and 1 by Media Molecule

Thirdly, using stats of the numbers of million sellers is completely flawed. The top six sellers on the Wii are all made by Nintendo

They were published by Sony though.
Some of those Nintendo games were made by 3rd parties too, but publshed by Nintendo (which makes them 2nd party?)

However, you are correct about the rest.... the stats in the OP are not much use to anyone other than people who like looking at stats.

The stats Pinapple gave are much more useful (albeit still biased towards first parties... and in fact because ioi has recently got more accurate Nintendo game data, it is a little biased against the Wii, the reality is probably something like 18%MS, 20%Sony and 48% Nintendo.... although as so many HD fans like to take out Wii Sports from Wii game sales when comparing to the HD twins attach ratios, then it should also be taken out of this figure, which would probably pull it down a good few percent)

Well, Wii Sports accounts for (roughly) 1.5%, so it won't make a huge difference either way.

eh?

Am I missing something here.... since when is 45 million 1.5% of 303 million

I think you meant 15%, not 1.5.

In fact... the figure you posted earlier of 169.8 million for 1st party is also flawed because the database is a bit messed up, is is including games like Trauma Centre and Super Swing Golf, which are not first party titles in any sense (first party = published by Nintendo in this case, best not to go into developers as Munkeh was, because it confuses things).... I haven't checked the PS3/XB games yet, perhaps they have non-Sony/MS published titles included too, which falsifies them as well.

So the only thing I got from this thread is that Nintendo makes to many damn good games wich also sells and that apparently that is a bad thing.

sigh....

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

The OP says developed by Sony, and the only reason I did not do the same with the Xbox and Wii is because I am lazy..., it is just a minor point

Actually only 3 of them were made by Sony, as when Motorstorm was released Sony hadn't bought Evolution yet, but that is not important

Was gonna say roughly the same. Instead i'll just quote it :p

Check out my game about moles ^

Pineapple said it right. Nintendo's percentage is MUCH bigger than the OP makes it out to be. However, Nintendo has the advantage that they've sold so MUCH total software so that it's not AS bad for third partys as it appears.

Ah, you're right Khuutra and TWRoO - it's 15, not 1.5%, thanks for correcting me on that.

My mistake - sorry.
