Forums - Sony - PS EYE and EYE of judgment gameplay

As a Magic fan, The basic concept intriuges me. But I've got to say that that video made the game seem way too simplistic. Only creatures and spells? All you have to do is capture five of the nine spaces? It just turned into a very pretty Battle Tic Tac Toe.

I hope it does well but...

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I have a feeling it'll flop lol.

 like the Wii did?

You don't honestly think a completely optional and very expensive peripheral for a struggling console with a completely different userbase has any chance of ever being what the Wii or DS are do you?

You started of great, then showed your true ways as a nintendo fangirl.

The game isnt going to flop for the simple reason it comes with the PS EYE. Seeing your last comment you stated the ps3 cant be like the wii and the ds in terms of sales? Dont underestimate sony, or the playstation brand for that matter.

"Okay, a lot of people seem to be confused about how the game is going to work online. If you were thinking that, players would just draw the cards they wanted, when they wanted, off camera, that will not work.

You have to scan your deck to your online profile before the match starts. The computer then randomly shuffles the cards for you, and randomly deals you a virtual hand. IF you try to play a card that is not part of your virtual hand, the game will not let you play it.

I don't have a link to prove it, but I believe the guy said it in one of the interviews on GT. I am thinking players will just sort their decks by monster, spell or whatever, so the virtual cards can be easily found."

I'm glad that they're thinking about cheating and are actively trying to prevent it, but this is pretty stupid.  I mean really, what's the point of having the cards other than gimmick and a money maker?  The game draws cards for you and tells you what's in your hand, you have to search through all your cards to find your hand when you "draw", and then the game just does everything for you.  I really was excited about this game but every time I see anything about it I get less and less excited about it.

I've seen this game before it's called Magic: the Gathering Online except M:tG doesn't need the camera peripheal, has a better system, and is more known.

twestern: Don't forget, is a proven card game with more than 120 cards and many more than 2 classes of cards.

Oh damn, 120 cards and two different types!?  That's like 60 cards for each type, how could this game ever fail with so many different possibilities?  Deepest game ever, totally not casual therefore it's true PS3 material.

From the video, there appear to be ground elements that boost cards/have effects, though this causes a conflict for non online games.

I.E. How the hell is that determined? It appeared to be pre-set on the video, but in game, you have a blank piece of 3x3 paper.

I'm actually still confused on when it tells you to "draw" your card. It didn't show up anywhere in that video other than just telling the player to draw (or search being the better term).

-edit-
The more I think about it, yeah, I pretty much agree with Fuzz on this.

1) You have to buy an extra accessory.
2) You have to buy the cards.
3) Registering every card in your deck one by one will suck.
4) Modifying your deck is going to be just as annoying (because you will modify the deck after most games).
5) There's no point to the cards. None at all. Furthermore, you have to line up the cards just right to get them read.
6) You can still print your own cards.
7) There's no depth to the game. This might be good for people that don't do CCG's (you know, the people that this game isn't marketed towards) but anyone who has even played Pokemon will see an extremely shallow game.
8) In any tic tac toe type of game, the player who goes first has an extreme advantage.
9) Those animations for drawing, playing a card, summoning, getting mana, casting a spell, attacking, defending, and everything else better be skippable (which they won't because it's two player across distance). They will be cool for the first few games but they will get old very quickly.

Bleh, everyone killed my excitement for this game. You couldn't let me retain simple childlike wonder at the idea of an online 3D card game. No you had to go apply your logic to it. Meh, guess I'll have to keep waiting for the first real great 3D online card game. Oh well, the PSEye at least should have some other cool uses....
