I believe the game will do more than that.
Just by judging what I saw at E3, the game looks amazing.
I think 3 million+ is more accurate.
Nintendo has akways been conservative in their sales expectations.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
Well Corruption is only 1.53 million. However the original Prime is almost at 3 million. 2 million seems about right to me.
2 M is a good figure. I would love to see it climb higher though.

1.5 million is par for a Metroid game.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event." — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

Nintendo must advertise.
If they pull another Excitebots, Metroid isn't going too far past 1 million.
