Forums - Sony - Will The PS4 Have Blu-Ray Still?

PS1 was CD.

And what do you mean more optimized BD??? the only thing that can be improved is the drive, not the disc. And there are already 400GB BD's... that will most likely be more than enough for the 8th gen. SONY just needs to install a faster drive, and although probably won't be needed; a drive that can read 4 layered discs [100GB BD]. The 2x drive in the ps3 is the main reason for the installs that some games carry....

As for pricing, this should be much cheaper than the PS3 launch.... just look at the difference in the costs of BD players today.

the main reason is poor programming. Killzone 2 does not install and uncharted does not have one load screen from the start of the game till the end. And these are some of the most polygon pushing games ever created. If all the devs didnt go lazy on the ps3 the 2x disk speed would be fine.

Even tho a faster disk speed would be fine just 2x disk speed for BD is much faster then say a 2x DVD speed.

You aren't going to see the PS4 for a while so speculating will do no good.

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

the PS1 used CDs. And yes the PS4 will use Blu-ray. By then it wont be much more expensive than DVDs or anything else. They will most likely use a speedier drive maybe an 8x or 12x drive. thats more important than more space because then they wont have to include redundant code to improve loading times

Long Live SHIO!

I hope that sony goes with the blu-ray drive in the PS4.
they pushed blu-ray player in the PS3 to win the format war.
so its a safe bet that the PS3 will have blu-ray

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

no. in fact, there wont even be a "ps4" they will make a "ps3go" without the bluray. cause who really needs one of those anyway?
